and seeing all sorts of interesting titles. But when I click the title, all that I see is another advertisement for something for sale.
I dislike sorting through the “for sale” posts in the wrong forum. Or are they in the wrong forum? Is it a general site policy that items for sale be in “classified,” or are members free to stick this stuff wherever he or she pleases?

If it is something Z-related that is not in the appropriate forum, it is moved to the Classifieds section. If it is obvious spam, the thread is locked (or edited or deleted at a moderator's discretion) and the thread originator warned or instantly banned in accordance with the Terms of Use.

Since I used to moderate only the mid-A forum (which is what I assume you're talking about David), I'll chime in...
I tend to be fairly democratic about such things, so I ran a poll in the mid-A, asking the people who hang out in that forum if they prefer to a) allow 'for sale' posts in the forum, b) disallow them and have them deleted, requiring the OP to repost in the marketplace, or c) disallow them and move for sale posts to the marketplace. The response was almomst unanimously "Can we have our own "local for sale" subforum here in the mid-A". I asked the administrators about it several times, but it never came to fruition. I agree that it would be a great idea though. Since that didn't happen, the second place answer was, "I want to see local for sale items here in our regional forum", so I've historically left them alone because a) if a seller doesn't want to ship, then 99% of the inquiries in the marketplace will be void, and b) the members of the regional forum want to know about local sales in a centralized place. This seemed like the place.
Make sense?
