Default is it me?

or are there a lot of newbies recently? don't get me wrong now, the more the merrier. in fact I haven't even been an "active" member for a year yet. however I've seen a huge influx recently of seemingly ignorant posts by newbies and basic questions about things that have been covered about 50+ times before. of course thats to be expected in a forum. however does anyone have a reason why it feels like a newbie explosion? is it just that the 03/04 Z's are becoming cheaper and thus a new and broader market are now getting ahold of Z's? is the age/maturity level of Z's owners getting lower by the minute?

I know what you mean by the newb explosion, I learned the search button real quick here when i first joined. I think it has to do with the 03's and 04's being more affordable now. but anyhow, its good to have a good community!

Well I am a newb to site, but not new to car forums. I was a previous Subaru owner, bought a 2001 2.5 RS 3 years ago when I was 18. Got on the forums then, with a member number of around 30k. Over there, the member numbers have exploded to over 100k.

I can't explain why the recent influx of new people, but it seems to be happening everywhere. Perhaps it is as you said, and the used car market for select cars is becoming cheaper, allowing a broader range of owners. I for one am young, but by no means a "newb" when it comes to cars, nor forums.

I am finishing my last years of college and was plain tired of my Subaru. I was leaning on purchasing a new one, however I wanted a more presentable, more business like vehicle while still be able to go to the track with a track worthy car.

Anyway, this is a great site, and hopefully I can make some worth while contributions to the site!

This isn't my first forum. The other forums that I have been a member in it seems like it happens yearly. Once a year alot of new people come in and repeat all the questions that have been answered a year ago.

I think it's because some of the 24-36 month leases are ending and people are picking them up used. However, I have also noticed a good number of new 06 posts.

I’ve notice the same thing, and beginning to get frustrated with the

Does the Pop Charger really Pop?

threads. Generally spring is when interest in sports cars peak, not January. However with more 350Zs on the road, interest will increase. When I read

I’m thinking about getting a 350Z in couple of years. Which is best? Turbo or Supercharging?

I just click ignore.

I belonged to another forum before the Z. The same thing happened to a much worse degree. I visited the site out of curiousity a few months ago. Where I once received valuable technical info on building, there was only trash talk with nothing educational I certainly hope this forum will never suffer a similar fate as long-term mature members embrace newer projects from the auto industry.

Well, the best time of year to buy a new car is in the fall when the new model year is coming out and the older model year has a good deal to make room in the lot. THen after they have bought the car and enjoyed it for a month or two. They will discover this site. I believe it took me about a month or 2 after purchasing the car to register on this site.

No, it is not just you. Sadly, I have noticed this as well. Not trying to be a jackass, "the more the merrier" +1, but some of these threads and posts by noobs either make me laugh out loud or **** me off.

Edit - Ehh...sorry about that double post ... not sure what happened there. I FEEL LIKE A NOOB NOW!

Nope, not just you. I've been here less than a year also, but even when I first joined I had the common sense to use the "Search" function, rather than just starting a new thread for every stupid question I wanted to ask. I've been really tempted to just start telling them all to do a search, but so far I haven't wanted to waste my time.

Definitely noticed this too. A bit annoying, if I might add.
