Default Filter for "New Posts" link?

I brought this up once before but now it seems even more necessary than it did last year.

With all the various sub forums at my350z.com it is nearly impossible to go into each one and check for new posts, at the same time using the "New Posts" button can return 500 new posts in one day (and I imagine the 500 is a hard stop on the search and there are more that just get dropped).

At the very least a second "new posts" search that excludes off topic and regions would be a great option for those who want to come here and discuss 350Zs.

I have thought the same thing. There should be a way to ignore certain Forums all together for searching. This would have been especially nice to ignore the politics forum around election time. I REALLY hate coming here and having to wade through all of the Offtopic threads when I want to find something.

So this morning I hit New Posts and out of 498 total results, since I posted this yesterday, the first page has
11 Off Topic
4 Other Vehicles
2 Regional
1 Political

18 out of 40 post are regional or off topic.

So today New Posts returned 500 with the following results on the first page.
6 Off Topic
7 Other Vehicles
3 Regional
0 political

16 out of 40 are regional or off topic

Total= 499
10 Off Topic
1 Other Vehicles
7 Regional
0 political

18 out of 40

So three days of random sampling lead me to conclude that nearly half of the post displayed by the New Posts fall into this category.

So for those of you who don't have time to look at 500 titles or dip into each forum you are interested in, what do you do? How do you stay on top of all this information?

Kyle has been in Japan, and he is the one that can address this issue to see if there is a feasible fix or not.

A solution based on information I found at the vbulletin forum. I am posting this here since the other thread I originally posed this information in got so trashed I figured no one would find it anyway.

The basic new search is
https://my350z.com/forum/search.php?do=getnew

using an &exclude at the end of the link

&exclude=6,87,88,436,437,34,28,30,32,331,29,31,33,41,27,35,3 6,37,38,39,40,102,120,67,317,434

So the whole link is https://my350z.com/forum/search.php?...120,67,317,434

I this example I took out all the off topic stuff I don't normally read but left in NorCal because that is my second home.

If anyone is interested in making their own new post search just hover over the forum and look in the status bar to find its number
For instance Northern California is
https://my350z.com/forum/northern-california-26/

26 is the number, just add that to the link above and now you wont see NorCal either. The reverse is true if you want to see a board that is currently excluded, just remove the corresponding number.
