Is this really the way to treat people???
I was just wondering if this is really what this web site is all about? My post was closed after this stupid reply by the moderator:
"please search, you have got to be kidding me. there are literally about a hundred threads on the SSV."
I'm sorry, but if I just want a question answered and people are willing to provide the answer for me, I should not have to search. This is how BS arguments and crap gets started.
Thanks

Spend some time here, and help members with their questions. Not 10 or a 100 members, but a 1,000 members. Support and help other members, and they will do the same for you.

Dude, I don't think you should question someone's integrity or desire to help others based on number of posts. You and I know that there are people out there that post worthless crap just so they can get their numbers up. For example, I could say, damn someone with 13,000 posts in 2 years. He must be posting BS everytime he logs on. Probably not an accurate assumption, is it? As for myself, I only try to post when I have something constructive to say. Like many others here, I have installed my custom stereo, exhaust, intake, plenum, headers, etc and I would be willing to lend a helping hand to ANYONE who needed it..
The thing that bothered me about the moderator's comment was the part about "are you kidding me....". All that needed to be said was "please do a search, you will find the information you need on previous posts". I just think it could have been a little more respectful post. How is a moderator going to be effective at moderating when he himself can't be nice and courtious to others?
Enough said. I'm done with this one.
Thanks
well it was a bit harsh considering the amount of crap people post here...but legit questions by people with a decent amount of posts should usually be searched first. i usually preface my posts with " i searched but couldnt find the exact answer so...."
perhaps the mod was drunk and trying to be argumentative? hahha

do a search, read some threads, get to know the forum and how to manuever around it to get answers first. For the most part Newbs who are genuine and have done an ounce of research before hand usually get straight answers. It's only the idiots who want instant gratification and dont know d!ck about the car that get flamed to high hell and rightfully so. And if you cant take the heat every so often than stick to reading threads...any question you could possibly think of has probly been answered before anyways.

its not hard....just dont be an ***. im not in the my350z clique and my 1000 posts are spread out over 4 years...if you have a legit question do 5 minutes of research first and if you cant find the answer toss up a new thread with a well versed question and chances are youll get some good responses.
people get tired sometimes of answering the same questions over and over from people that are too lazy to take the time to learn about thier $30,000 performance machine.

Gentlemen:
The fact is that there were plenty of people willing to answer the question without making any negative or otherwise offensive remarks. Point is, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it and let those who have positive feedback speak up.
The one thing that you guys should not do is make assumptions as to my knowledge of the Z. I own both a G35 and a Z. The G came in 2002 shortly after it came out. The Z I bought in 2005. I have done plenty of work on both.
Lets just drop this thing and move on.
Thanks

I think the "Are you kidding me" comment stems from the fact that you have to climb over "Be Sure to use the Search feature first, as the topic may have been posted already." when you start an new thread. I think that statement makes it clear how most of the members feel about people who don't use the search.

I would like to apologize on behalf of the moderator that phrased his reply the way he did. Ask the question again and I may be able to help you. Also, if you're still upset, you can always PM the mod directly and tell him how you feel and try to sort it out. Or, you can search next time and not get flamed from the start.
Just a few observations from "the other side of the fence".
You started this thread, and both of your replies to people have included "I'm done with this one", and " Lets just drop this thing and move on".
So I see a trend....
1. You started a thread with questions about the SSV that probably could have been answered via a search (and if you didn't find what you were looking for, you could have expanded an existing thread so that more information was contained in that thread for the next guy).
2. You were irritated enough by the moderators decision to delete your thread that you felt obligated to make this thread in which you ask for input from people (the title itself is a question), but then you don't want to talk about it.
3. Your final statement of your OP says " I'm sorry, but if I just want a question answered and people are willing to provide the answer for me, I should not have to search." It's this "spoon-feed me" thinking that causes the search function to return 500 threads of the same information, making it harder for everyone to use the search function. If repetitive threads had no detriment to the forum, most people wouldn't give a hoot, but garbage in is garbage stored.
All three of these are just poor forum etiquette, all other things aside. And I am not bashing on you, I'm just making an observation that explains alot of why you're getting the responses you're getting in this thread. I realize that people are going to use the forum however they're going to use it. It's up to us to try and keep it as usable as possible, which is why some threads don't survive.
The other thing to keep in mind is that moderators have personalities too. Some of us tend to be a little more formal than others, some of us are more "abrupt" than others.
ETA: I was not the moderator that dealt with your thread.

I.E. what this threadstarter apparently did.
When I posted is this what I have to look forward to, my intent was to **** on this thread. Hopefully now that's clear.
I am not a fan of the weak minded little ****s that flood the boards with no knowledge of mechanics or engineering but continue to give feedback as if they did have that knowlesge simply because they read what the last fool posted.
Are people on this site bandwagoners too?
