What the **** is so hard about posting in the correct forum, NOOBS!!
I'm still a newbie here and I will admit that I did start a new thread in the wrong section at first. I have learned my lesson now. I think a reason for people posting in the wrong section is that they don't realize that if you click on the "FORUMS" tab you will get a bunch of forums. Instead, I think they scroll over it, see only 5 different forums and pick the closest one to their subject. I think you should have a 7 day "Read-Only" period with a 30 day "No starting new threads" period.

I honestly think there should be a 30 day period from the time you register, till the time you are allowed to make your first post. I'm fed up!!
Who's with me here?

IMO. No need to stress.
Reasonable but what about those of us who are "noobs" (I hate that f'ing word as it is so high school sounding) who have been at this for a long time? I've been on other forums for YEARS (bimmerfest, Rennlist) and understand the rules and ways of the forum...and someone else mentioned that the search issue is not just new people...

I think instead of making it a time period, it should be a certain number of posts. Instead of completely isolating someone from posting at all, we should at least let them start voicing their opinions in already open threads, say, oh i don't know, threads they have SEARCHED for and found helpful, but still have a question?

but then we end up with someone posting something like this in a wheel thread.
"what is better a blue cone air filter or a red one?"
You know, going off topic and just posting their questions anywhere they want. (which they already do)

The problem that you will run into without the waiting period is then everyone instead of starting their own useless thread is, then these half wit's will start jacking everyone elses thread.
