I have been a member of my350z.com since Dec of 2003. Lately, I have noticed a definate change in tone and attitude by many members on the forum. There seems to be much more vulgarity, and flat our rudeness by many members. The cordial nature of the forum has significantly deteriorated over the past several months, in particular. I see lots of homosexual references, drug usage jokes, underaged sexual comments, and "nutswinging" icons and comments, and such.

Name calling, insults, and a general lack of respect has followed. I am sure others have noticed this as well. On rare occasion, I have been drawn into this, and I appoligize as well. But the general trends continues.

I also notice a lack of sufficient moderator and rule enforcement in most of the forums. Many threads continue after many many days, and pages of completely off-topic comments, that have nothing to do with the original poster's question/comment.

Just thought I would share my impressions, and hopes that things might change in the future. my350z.com used to have very strict rule enforcement, and would ban and warn people with much greater force in the past. Hopefully, a renewed effort at enforcing the rules will help make the forum a better place for everyone.

I whole heartedly agree with what the OP has stated. As a result, I have already officially submitted a request to be moderator. I too have been on this forum a few years and noticed a decline in maturity and respect for one another. I believe the daytime lacks moderation, as most are at work and can not babysit activity. This is one of the main reasons I requested to moderate. Since I am on the forum daily from 9-6pm, this would allow for at least one moderator to constantly monitor and clean-up any violations of the TOU. Of course, I'd have to lose the avatar and avoid confrontation with youngsters that need to be put in their place, but this is a sacrifice I'd be willing to take for the good of the community. As for now, my submission is in the hands of the admins. We'll see what happens.

Yea it def has gotten alot worse since I been a member. I swear I think sumtimes that people just wait for a thread to hijack or a opening to throw in insults. But true sum of us are friends so thats fine when we joke but with others not so much.

I agree though, but more about the incoherent postings and retardedness that oozes from the posts.

 

I think this thread is funny in many ways. before there was other shops everyone nuthugged sharif and had his back, like he was god. but now with other shops getting exposure/costumers of course ppl are going to call out nuthuggers and use (homosexual references, insults). and it makes perfect sense for sharif to start this thread so his boys stop getting called out, so the free marketing/nuthuggin can go on, and sharif become god again.

 

Thanks. I've been recommended for moderator 3 times already and never seem to make the cut. I believe particularily because in the past I've been know to administer some vicious ownage on n00bs that got out of line. Usually it's been to the defense of others. Not just that, but I also partaked in the "Brave Heart" movement where a bunch of fed up premier member vets singled out and targeted forum trolls. It was an unecessary evil that came into place due to lack of moderation. Again, I see a second phase of this coming around soon. I've settled down alot though, this time around I'd be more diplomatic about it. With a moderating position it would allow me to actively do something about it rather than just sit back and hope something is done about it. -2 cents-
