What do you think about locking down polls that are so many days old in the OT. I am asking this because we constantly see the same old polls rehashed in the OT. It takes up valuable space.

So what do you think about closing polls that has been 2 months old, 3? 4?

Two months would be fine.

 

2 months works for me.

either get rid of them altogether (my choice) or close them after about a month...they have served their purpose by that time i am sure.

get rid of them. You could also purge most of the other off topic stuff after 2 months. Its usually just crap about movies and other useless junk.

during the time that we were admin-less, I purged all threads in OT older than 90days...

so that would be my view on it, the threads there are dead after about 3 days, of course I dont think anything should be that short, but the threads are ready to be deleted after 3 months, the polls should be closed much sooner, like 2-4 weeks. I cant think of any poll that stayed current for more than a week.

 

I agree that polls should be locked after a month or so. Although if we purge them, wont we just get new "what color, how much did you pay, how fast have you been, how many partners" polls springing up?

 

I think most of this is in relation to offtopic posts.

the purging thing is definitly in relation to offtopic posts only. so yeah that would include "how many partners" and other not so important stuff. but then again, when people post in offtopic, I dont think they typicly do a search...

I can think of only one poll, dealing with buyer satisfaction (see link below), which is useful after 60 (or 30) days.

I like to refer to this poll when people start whinning about Z problems. This is a well run site & I'm happy to go with your guys judgement but you might want to pin a poll such as the above & deep six the rest.

 

Lock polls after 1 or 2 months. Or ban them completely - they just spawn threads designed to get points, like "what color is your Z."

Purge Off Topic after 2 or 3 months.

well actually if my plan stays in action(purge OT posts after 3 months) any post counts and/or points from OT posts will be gone... I dont think itll track posts made after their deleted. but maybe they will, I donno, might be options for admins that I dont know about.
