index page a bit faster?
I disabled birthdays and "Who's Online" that usualyl appears at the bottom of the index page.
It seems significantly faster to me. Still lags a bit but much faster.
Anyone else notice?

Mike, it is faster, but would decreasing photo attachments to a smaller size than 640x480 help at all? Maybe eliminate the option of photos in signatures?

Photos should make absolutely no difference except when actually showing a thread. There is no lookup for photos until a thread is actually opened for viewing; photos aren't relevent when calculating indexes on threads.
One question I have though is if it's possibly looking up users when doing thread indexing, would removing the point system also improve performance?

photos can hold up the system since when you access a photo thats taking power to do that which could be loading the index page for me, ect.
however photos in sigs are not hosted on this site... meaning all its doing is returning the code and the rest relies on your own connection to find and download the image.
however I like the hosting of pictures, and 640x480 is already a small size. it might make the forum a bit faster if they were gone or smaller, but Id rather wait a few extra seconds and be able to see other pictures.
