Default Searching + "Police"

I just read this thread:

https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-video/365298-how-can-i-take-my-alarm-off-silent-mode.html

The Moderator’s response (search on “Alarms”) returns 386 messages. In fact the answer is in the Z’s owner’s manual. So reading through a pile of Forum responses would have been an arduous and avoidable exercise.

The Moderator did mercifully provide the answer, but I wonder if a new member wouldn’t think this was an unfriendly welcome to my350z.com.

We need better search features. And, until we have this feature, we need to "lighten-up" on the search-thing when new members ask questions after experiencing a search failure.

what needs to happen is that when these redundant questions get asked over and over again, they need to be either locked ot deleted immediately. that is why when you do search you come up with at lest 3 pages of threads all asking the same question. plus 8 out of 10 times the OP did search, but was too lazy to actually read those threads and learn something so instead they want the "fast answer" and make a whole new thread. it is a cycle that will never end unless the mods end it

I don't see how locking a new poster's thread asking a redundant question will cause less people to ask the same thing a week from now. If anything, it will be harder to find in search.

I think some people have just been here too long for their own good.

Better search features like ads that do not completely block the search bar entirely prohibiting you from actually performing a search? That would be my first step.
