This [new] board change was only incepted around Feb or March or this year... AV changes were a universal commodity before the site revamp.

Yea this should be a sticky. So, all the new members know that if they want a avatar they have to pay and other members that have avatar and try to change them don't have to find out the hard way that they can't. I was also one of the ones trying to figure out how to load mine. MAKE IT A STICKY, just an idea!

I have mine still too...I was going to change it to sport the new rims and grille, but luckily I saw another post like this one and didn't delete the one I have...I agree though, not having avatars for free members is stupid. I think it would have been better to charge advertisers a little more, or add a "donate" section, or something like that. Not many other sites charge for avatars and other simple crap...and g35driver is owned by the same person/people as my350z, so no wonder they charge as well. I guess management can't figure out how to make money off of a forum like most other forum's...that's like KMart deciding to increase revenue by charging to use the restroom in order to keep up with Walmart...brilliant. just brilliant. Just like closing the street racing section for a month. I wish 350zmotoring wasn't just as ignorant.

I think it's ok for the site op to limit these things in order to nudge people into becoming premier members. It cost a lot of money and can take a HUGE amount of time to run one of these sites.

I personally am up in the air about "upgrading" until I see if I really use the site or not. There is some great info here so far but I want to see how quickly new info is added and how well the community responds to questions.

I'll do the premier when I see the difference, I am not a premier member and I stll get all the info I need. It was a little dirty thay did not say anything about the avatar before, I would not have removed mine. The should have a note in the avatar change page.

Sorry about the lack of an avatar warning guys. A thread has been posted and stickied in the Site Announcements forum.

Question Why no custom avatars?

I know I'm new here, but definately not a stranger to message boards. I was just curious why there is not an option to upload a custom avatar? Would be nice to have my own, like most of the other boards I visit, rather than just picking from the ones listed.

Thanks,
Dave

Custom avatars are a benefit reserved for Premier Members.

https://my350z.com/forum/subscriptions.php

Default avatars have recently been added due to high demand for avatars from non-Premier Members.
