Default Points ---> Karma System

Now that the points system is gone, how about a karma system thats in place at a few forums i've been to.

Users don't get points for useless posts or replies, but they can be given good or bad karma points by other users based on good information, help provided, etc.

It helps identify the good users, builds credibility, and adds incentive for answer questions, helping with an issue, etc.

On one forum I visit, users may only give a certain number of karma points daily.

I like that idea. I frequented a Honda forum before I came here and i would do a lot of reading and learning and i would only reply if i could help someone, so a karma system would help identify those who may be deemed trustworthy......to a certain extent.

zxsaint, i award you 10 imaginary karma points for the idea.

you could award points before for rating a reply. but did anyone actually bother with that?

I think that was because the points system was so out of order already that no one cared. People had these inflated numbers from posting alot and about random stupid things that got a lot of replies/views.

Karma points would be hard to obtain, you'd start out at zero and stay there until people actually decided to give you some. With this plug-in in place it also lets you write a short comment with the points you give thats displayed on the person's profile like "Thanks for the help."

It's really annoying how the some people who post so much, 90% of their posts are nothing but useless info, bs, or just plain ****. I think its a good idea, to give credit to those people who really deserve it.
