i thought there was something wrong with my 'puter, but I checked these forums from my office PC and I got the same painfully slow delays. This is worse than the dial-up days!!!!

Sweet! I'm finally backup and faster than ever after two days of "server not responding" messages.

Early on Thursday last week (PST) our websites encountered an attack, one which is often referred to as a “DDOS” (distributed denial-of-service) attack.

While our network is setup to handle very substantial traffic (it deals with over 50 million visitors each month), as has been seen by other large internet sites (Twitter, Facebook, Google et. al.) such a large scale attack will cause connection difficulties. In this we were no different, and it wasn’t until sometime on the weekend where we were able to implement a successful resolution to the issue.

As part of the implementation of the resolution you may have encountered some issues with the site and its functionality, we are almost certain we have worked all of those out, and if you come across an issue, if you could please post it in the help forum to ensure that we have seen it, it would be appreciated.

We have been (and continue to) work around the clock until all the issues are resolved, our apologizes for the inconvenience.
Thanks,
Adrian – Internet Brands.

I believe that's pretty normal. I'm no PC guru, but doesn't that have to do with PC memory and video cards?

Recently, there was a new feature added: Logging in through your Facebook account. (Yahoo & others too.)

It may be coincidence, but I noticed the performance drop when this feature was added. Try turning it off for a week and see if this helps. There have to be a lot of scripts running to post up on Facebook et all with every topic reply notice.

Just my two yen.

I get to the main page fine, then every page I go to thereafter, it takes forever to load or it takes forever and then I get "page could not be diplayed" so I have to back up try again. refreshing just gives me a blank page. This happens every time.

Agreed 100%. I've been preaching this to IB for weeks now, but have not recieved a direct response to it...

Thats not the cause - we are still being the recipients of DDOS attacks

I don't have the OP's problem, but instead, no matter what computer I'm on, work, starbucks, home, laptop, whatever, I get page error loads. Up to 4-6 times in a row before it takes me to the page I'm trying to get to, or post in a thread. It makes surfing the forum unbearable.

It's been running decent on my side for the past few days but still having issues with having to press back 2x. Sometimes it's needed and other it's not so I end up a page back from where I wanted to be..

I notice a significant reduction in posts and replys on the Discussion forums. Obviously readership and participation is down. There must be a reason for this, and I don't think we can put the blame on the Economy.
