EnthuZiast, this place will never be overrun by trolls; the moderators here have been known to take care of trolls promptly.

hehe show me the trolls!!! I havent banned anyone in like a month(damn people are all being too nice)

no doubt MANY of the 18000 just signed up to see the site. its one viewable to members, so people sign up real quick(no wait for authorization) and look around only to never return. theres thousands of people with 0 posts too, and many more with <10.

Id bet we dont even have 1000 "active" members. but this is true for almost any site. it difficult to differentiate between those that are no longer here, and those that read only. so you cant really purge. I beleive vic did delete all profiles older than a certain date with 0 posts a little while ago. that cut a few thousand off the list.

just for simplicity, anyone that is reading this, that visits the forum, but never posts, please post a quick whatever in here or something, just so if we purge again, your account wont be included in the 0 post category.

That is a good idea. Maybe you can make a new thread where members from time to time post a "Checking in" to make sure thier accounts are still active. maybe make everyone have to post there at least once a month or once every 2 months to keep thier account active. This way every member see's the Thread. This should also reduce dead accounts and trolls.

The thing is that you cannot view posts unless you register so some people probably just register to view a thread they were informed of and never return.

It is a nice way to increase member numbers and look good but doesn't really indicate how large the forum really is, out of those 18000 probably only 1000 are regulars.

I used to have a reason why it was viewable only to members, but now I forgot it...

I guess it encourages people to stick around and participate. also it cuts down on trolls perhaps, since they cant even see whats going on without joining.

I donno... its not my site, I dont make the rules.

Well - I'm no prude, or maybe I am - But that name is offensive to me. There are young people here, I'm sure. Do we except this obnoxious name as being OK? If it were my forum, I wouldn't.

its a fine line, but the forum as a whole seems to prefer the moderators as seen but not heard. granted we dont roll over and play dead around here, but we dont like to control the forum too much, let things be unless there is a specific problem. soon as we start editing people names based on the possibility of them offending someone, then we start editing posts for the same reason, but what offends one person might not offend the next...

Im sure you see where Im going here. if someone wants to come along with the name crackwhore, thats not really the biggest issue. cant hold that strict of rules around here or itd be a pretty boring place.

Im glad its members only can view. Or else this site would be like the other 350Z forums which I never signed up for and just read thru. Its good for site growth.

reason why we do register only is because of traffic.

if we let it be open, this site would be so slow.
