Should warnings transfer to new usernames?
The simple version: Yes
The longer version: Yes, it is the person that earns the strike. Without transferring the strikes a troll can just keep hopping names and posting trolls.
As for 2 people on the same computer. Tough noogies.
If your friend uses your computer and causes enough trouble to get you banned then you need to pick your friends more carefully.
Besides, knowing that this could happen (like, say, with a husband and wife) should be a GREAT deterent.
Without transferrinf strikes the strikes have no teeth.

Good point, public access computers are a special case. I guess the mods could handle those issues on a case-by-case basis if they ever arise, but....
The chances of a Z owner who does not have a computer at home AND uses the library computer AND happens to share the library with a person who get banned here seems pretty slim to me. I wouldn't worry about that case until it happens. (or he could switch to a different computer in the library).

but... the thing was should strikes transfer to new usernames... not should a person be forced to keep strikes for posts under his name he didnt post.
the only way to tell 2 people apart is by their IP(or common sense in some cases) logging out will just change the username which is the exact reason for the thread.
and yeah I agree, A person is a person, the IP is their computer, if someone REALLY wants to claim they are 2 different people on the same PC, they can then state that case. itd be a tough plea though.

never mind... I answered myself already...
anyway, is there a way to penalize them say for about a 3 month period ....block their ip address for said time?.....if it's too much trouble then just ban them indefinitely.
