Default Trader Rating system

I know over @ Evo-M, they have a system where you can rate a member for the stuff they buy or sell, and it shows up under their name. I know that I've gotten jacked on this site once, and I think it'd be nice to be able to leave feedback about the seller/member/buyer so people will know. Also, some people I can't speak highly enough about as far as ease of sale goes.

Good idea. I've been apprehensive about pulling the trigger on items for the reason above, but I'm sure a rating system would offer some consolence. Like with eBay.

I was just thinking about this earlier this week. We have the same feature on cincinnatistreetracing forum. We call it Buyer / Seller Feedback.

could reimplement the point system but only have it as positive feedback points. but it seems very easy to bypass, they could register bogus names and give themselves feedback.

best method is to ask them for references of people theyve sold to before(assuming they have, if they havent then it doesnt matter either way right?)

also ask them for their ebay account, and paypal. look at ebay feedback and number of verified transactions over paypal. also with paypal, ensure the deal is concluded within 30days or you can dispute the charge. if you dont have it in 30 days, dispute it, no questions asked. if they demand money order, then you may want to question the purchase.

lastly, if this is a large ticket item, consider escrow. not free, or even cheap. but it is foolproof. a lesser form would be COD, they could ship you a box of bricks to fool you, but chances are they would just say no and not take the risk/hassle.

Vendor reviews are great, but I think that MEMBER review type things would be beneficial to anybody buying stuff.
