Sorry guys but I don't think he should've been banned. I've seen worst posts from other members in different threads that were not even warned.

While I do agree that some of his comments were wrong, the real nasty stuff started after he was provoked.

I will say that I visit all of the other 350Z and G35 forums and I don't see people bashing each other as much as I do on this forum. It's really a shame because to me this is the best 350Z forum out there.

Can't we all just get along.

 

vics, like a lot of people have said, it really doesn't have to do with the thread in question from the other day. I think its sort of a culmination of daking's poor choice of words combined with a tempermental attitude.

This is pretty much THE 350z board though, so the mods actually carry a considerable amount of weight. Like they said, a tiny percentage has been banned, but some people do regularly push the limits.

For the record, I would like to hear that if daking apoligized that he would be allowed back in on some sort of probationary period or something.

Sometimes, when I drive across the desert in the middle of the night, with no other cars around, I start imagining: What if there were no civilization out there? No cities, no factories, no people? And then I think: No people or factories? Then who made this car? And this highway? And I get so confused I have to stick my head out the window into the driving rain---unless there's lightning, because I could get struck on the head by a bolt.

Julian is one cool guy. If you meet him in person..you would certainly not recognize him if you apply your cool guy internet filter to him.

Not trying to start a fight with you or anything, just pointing something out.. but in your statement up top, at least you got to explain what you meant by saying you had cop friends and that you weren't threatening him...

he never got a chance.. just got banned. The mods should have seen it coming after seeing all the negative posts that his reaction would be to defend himself and shut the thread down before it got ugly. or could have given him a warning to stop, being sensitive to all the negativity towards him.

Ok, so the overreaction in this thread is equivalent to the overreaction to Miss Jacksons' (cuz I'm nasty)titty flop during the Superbowl.

It is all entertainment..

 

He did have the chance, briefly, when he came back as Cartman. There were no explanations, apologies or anything to suggest his attitude had changed. Just, more anger.

Julian must be a decent guy, otherwise, he wouldn't have people like yourself standing up to defend him.

But, like someone said above, being a nice guy doesn't preclude the rules from applying. If he's smart, he'll make the apologies to the people who deserve them and ask to come back on a probationary basis with the understanding he'll act better when there is a dispute. Whether he's allowed back is a moderator/admin decision. It wouldn't be the first time someone who was banned was allowed to return.

Mike, I don't have more to say about this, except thanks for showing he's not a jerk in person.

I'll throw in my 2 cents.

Julian is very cool in person, very chill and pretty funny actually and knowledgeable about modding cars in general.

On the board he comes off as kinda arrogant and hotheaded which usually leads you nowhere on an internet forum. He has had plenty of problems here and has said he's leaving but stayed of course... Oh well.
Also I would like to say that not enough people are banned (Trolls) or threads edited enough.

 

Whoa... quite a read those two threads.

I don't think there is anyone that was clearly in the right or in the wrong. I would have liked to see the moderators step up with a simple "Chill out" or "let's keep this civil" comment. There were several replies from moderators yet the thread was allowed to continue without any warnings given out to ALL THREAD PARTICIPANTS.

Quite easy for all of us to play Monday morning quarterback looking back on the thread in full and not as it progressed. I still think it should have been closed after page one.

I would have to agree that the behavior of many, me included, was probably not up to the standards that we ideally should be at. However, his responses weren't either.

Maybe it would have been better if somebody had just stopped that thread. But, if we had, I'm sure he would have been bitching that we were censoring his thread because Borla was a vendor/sponsor/whatever. With people that like to argue, there is no winning solution.

As has been said, daking is probably a nice guy outside of the internet. However, that would be a lot more believeable if he had was at all contrite about his behavior and wasn't busy currently trashing various people either on this site or any other.

 

It's pretty sad the way people treated him in that thread, mods included. He may have taken it too far, but others dragged him there. I didn't see any anger out of his reincarnation either, just many very good points about how poorly he was treated. Too many people acting like they are not speaking to a real person. You guys would not have said those things to his face no matter how much you claim you would, and you should type your responses like he was in front of you.
350trackz, Hraesvelg, DCZONER and HFM should probably have strikes for their posts IMO. Don't care if you don't agree.

 

I don't really know you so, I did a search of all your posts and checked where your posts involved myself, the people you mention above or Daking. I don't see you biased one way or another. In fact, you look like a model forum member. That means your opinion carries considerable objective weight.

Let's get this out of the way first. I would have said all the things I said to his face.

If you don't see any anger in either the original thread or in his reincarnation, then either everyone that believed his posts were inappropriate are ultra-sensitive or you or I missed something when we did our respective reading.

Whatever the case maybe, I will state that unequivocally, 350trackz does not deserve a strike for being threatened. And, if you somehow believe he does, I would really be interested to hear why you think that is the case. Ed, you're the first poster that has made me even consider that Daking may not have been treated right so if you care to elaborate, I'm all ears. And, if you convince me that is the case, I'll do whatever I can to see he's unbanned.

As it stands, I believe he threatened a forum member and a moderator, has showed no remorse, no desire to change his attitude and does not belong here.

I cannot defend some of the ways he reacted in the Borla post. I agree that they cost too much, and also agree with the rational posts in there that he is probably whining a bit much and probably wasn't Mr. Etiquette on the phone. His expectations were reasonable to me and people didn't treat him fairly.
350trackz deserves a strike. Read the thread up until his post on "03-26-2004 05:21 PM". It was totally uncalled for, immature, and intentionally hurtful. He doesn't deserve to suck on his left nut.
I'd respond pretty poorly to the way everyone was posting too. It's hard not to defend your viewpoint.
I don't think he'll change with the way this MB is and how people treat him. I don't expect him to take the crap that people are dishing. Every few posts making fun of his previous wish to leave the MB and taunting him. He's melodramatic unfortunately and has too much history here. Bringing him back probably just serves for another banishment, but I wish he was still here.

Of course I grew up in Jersey so maybe that explains some of my empathy. Thanks for reading. Have a nice day
