not to insult your or anything, but are you sure that you are registered there under the same name? i did a user search under trash259 and there isnt anyone by that name. it went from "trainee" to "Travez"

back on subject: i dont think i ever complained either before, but this is getting dumb. i LOVE this sight, but whenever i try to get on, it seems i am surprised if i am actually able to.

i visit other sites, but i feel this one is definately the best. i just wish they would fix the connection problems.

The site that I moderate, thats in my sig was just started in May of this year. The reason it was started was because the original site went to hell in a handbasket, so we as members and moderators decided to start a new one.

Well, from scratch, and using some very good servers that we all helped by paying for we made a far better/faster site and it was less than 3K to do.

I would bet that the same thing could happen over here if you could get enough interest generated.

Oh yeah, it would be nice to get back to VB software instead of this stuff this site uses now.

 

The biggest problem with the idea of starting a new site or even migrating everybody to another site is the loss of the knowledge base that is here. With 38,000 members, 86,000 threads and almost a million posts, that's a lot of history, information and experience to walk away from.

The real shame is that Tako doesn't realize what he has here. My350Z has the ability to be the "Wal-Mart" of 350Z sites. All the others combined don't have the members and posting that this one does. What a waste....

 

I guess he's too busy wheeling around in his 2 Gallardos. Who the hell buys 2 Gallardos anyway?

I don't think it's time to organize some sort of mass migration just yet. The admins will eventually realize that they are hemorraghing users and pissing off sponsors. Hopefully this will happen soon. And DON'T let them sucker us into some sort of "buy my350z a better server" fund.

All this down time is getting to be aggravating. I haven't complained before but I feel compelled to now. Whoever manages this site please consider this a formal complaint and warning that if you don't improve the service I will reluctantly go elsewhere.

 

Yeah im sure of it. I actually reg twice "Trash259" and "Junkmail". I dont know what is going on. It even says "Trash259" is loged in but wont allow me to post. Dave079 pmed Sosa for me, so hopefully ill be on motoring soon. Thanks tho .

IF there were specific plans to upgrade this site ... why not make a big announcement in bold letter and stick it on the General Forum instead of burying an answer in the Feedback section?

Meanwhile, this site has crashed at least 2 times since Victor posted on September 29.

do some research.. over 20,000 members here have never posted a single time.. That is ALOT..

80% of those 86,000 threads have nothing to do with the z and/or cars whatsoever.. A site 75% smaller than this run by people who know what they are doing and actually care about it would be much better than what is here today.. believe it or not a few sites like this exist..

I developed and maintain a windsurfing web site, www.PacificWindsurf.com which has a similiar discussion site at http://www.pacificwindsurf.com/discussion/

The thing is, as I have found, it is very difficult to get people to use the discussion site. Typically once there are 2 to 4 dominant discussion groups for a particular interest, there is no incentive to use a minority group. It's kind of like the market for operating systems in computers; until the majority of the people use one system, there's no incentive for you to use it; people want to use what everyone else is using.

Anyways, that said, if there is interest in creating an alterate site I would more then volunteer resources from my PacificWindsurf site, but at the same time I've found this site to be quite useful and wouldn't want to detract from it.

You all are correct that there are a lot of other 350Z related sites. I have at least 8 others bookmarked and visit some of the regularly. The bottom line is that none of them have the traffic or volume of this one.

It's useless to ***** and slam Vic/Mike as he has no authority (i.e. write the check) to implement an upgrade. He's just an admin not an owner. Until Tako signs on to a plan we're stuck with this hobbled server.

I have followed this and other sites for almost two years. The complaining and threats to leave have been going on for a long as I can remember. The bottom line is that I still see the same people here so obviously there is something positive keeping us.

You can't really expect much since it's free. Apparently the sponsors are happy because we don't see them abandoning ship.

My prediction is something is going to happen - either My350Z is going to get an upgrade and we'll all be happy for a couple of years or it's going to suffer a major crash and we'll be without it for a while. Maybe for good....
