I visit this site often from home and work. At work I have a T1, at home I have 3mb DSL....yet this site is always dog slow.

Every other UBB style forum I belong to is MUCH faster. It is SO FRUSTRATING!

Is it the hosting service for this place? Should you start charging members here so we can upgrade the hosting? I already give www.racingflix.com cold hard cash every month. I would do the same for MY350z.com. It's a great site. Just pig slow...like my old Mustang GT.

 

I know this will never happen but if it meant making this place FAST, I'd be willing to pay an annual fee. There are times when it literally would take HOURS to go through only the threads that I would deem interesting to me and skip 75% of the others.

Vic, I know we have been hounding you on this forever. Have you ever spoken (e-mailed) with Tako on this? Does he EVER respond? Does he just plain ignore you or does he just not want to put in the $ to upgrade this site?

 

pay for membership? no way! that is why we have sponsors putting up some mad cash every month. god only knows where it is going. Doesnt Tako have Lambos? maybe he needs the money from the sponsors for his Lambo mortgage?

 

It is ridiculously slow...I work at a major DARPA university and my connection would be something akin to an OC3. It's not a matter of content loading up, it seems to be that the website is incapable of multiple connections accessing the same page at the same time cuz it feels like i'm in a queue and when i finally get in, the page loads up really quickly.

I have my internet faves and I usually open up multiple browsers...one for my350z and more browsers to peruse elsewhere while my350z loads up.

 

VIC: You have NEVER responded to one of these posts where we (the true originators of this site) have continually cried for better performance out of the site. Tako must be making a he11 of a lot of money here with all of the sponsors signed up. Don't you think it is time he put something back in?

Please answer this as you have ignored it in the past.

Does he simply NOT respond to you?

Have you never tired to contact him?

If you have and he HAS responded, does he just tell you to tell us to take a hike and go screw ourselves or what?

I don't know about your decision to NEVER address this Vic. If you are the "administrator" here then it is your job to at least REPLY to our questions. I'm not saying that it's up to you to make it right but you need to at least respond. So far (in this and MANY other threads) you have refused to do so.

AGAIN, tell Tako that if it took a small reasonable fee from the members to make this place FAST, I would be willing to pay it.

I believe you are exposing the root problem with MY350Z - Vic and Tako do absolutely nothing to make this a better place. They appear to be disinterested at a minimum and as you have pointed out, Vic makes it a point to never respond to this issue. I would suspect that Vic is under orders from Tako to NOT get involved in any discussions related to the site. Why? Because none of us will like the answer – that is, he plans to do nothing.

When you look at the number of members and postings, there is no other 350Z specific site that even comes close. If fact, I bet that MY350Z has more than all the others combined. Yet, it languishes here under the weight of it's own success. How many times over the last 6 months has the search function been down? How many times have you tried to connect to the site and found it inaccessible?

As it stands now, once there are more than 150 users logged on, it becomes painfully slow. The owner and administrator need to get together and make a decision to purchase some bigger faster servers so this place will be usable for another couple of years. We as members may be better served by complaining to the site sponsors and let them put some pressure on Vic and Tako.

 

Now that is a good idea!

At least until we get booted.....then have to start our own site, heh.

we cant really complain to much...its a free site.....i can wait a little longer for something thats free..i have dail up anyway and everything is slow for me..lol...

but i would be wiling to donate...im maxima.org you have to be a donating member to be albe to acess certain parts of the forums like off topic and such...and that goes towards site maint.
im a donating member there and would be willing to do the same here as others would im sure....20 dollars for offtopic acess and a my350z.com sticker..sounds good to me

as for money from the sponsors not being put into the site...i dont know but i would asume it takes a little coin to keep the site running...

why is everyone so willing to donate.. i guess you dont see how many paying sponsors are on this site, and you sure as hell dont know how much they are paying. What makes you think your donations will go to site maintenance? the current income doesnt.

this is a prime reason why i started my own site..

 

I know Vic reads this stuff. I think that either A) He is under strict orders from Tako to NOT comment on it or B) He can't do anything about it anyway and doesn't want to get into arguments about it.

I see your dilemma Vic, but if it is B, couldn't you just come into this with a post that says, "I know what you guys are talking about. There is nothing I can do about it. Tako runs the show and he isn't responding"?

That would be all I would need from you, knowing that there isn't anything you can do (other than to continue to bug Tako about it).

i do know what it costs to be a sponsor as i was going to sponsor
as a vendor at one time until my job at the dealership changed

and since the sponsorship fees arent posted im asuming its not meant to be public knowledge...but i will say its not alot of money...lets just leave it at a kinetix plenum costs more than 3 months sponsorship...

why dont i have a problem being a donating member? well i believe in the saying you get what you pay for....if more money goes into the site the better the site will be....

i like you site alot...not alot of posts as of yet for things im interested in ...but the diy section is very nice...once the site gets more members and more posts im sure it will even be better...

but the truth is its no faster than this site here
