well from the message earlier I'd say they were playing with the DB. Probably didn't update the avatars table to reflect approved or didn't put in the userid of each user. But thats just a guess.

instead of removing avatars completely cant you still link to one and just not have the site host it? that shouldnt slow it down

Doubtful Hazade, this BB software their using is pretty close to the stuff I just put in my company. Avatars have to be local on mine, so I'm assuming the same for this one too.

Yeah I messed with a buncha settings and actually made it go down pretty hard. But I also disabled a few other things which should be a fix for a while. Still only a band-aid though.

You'd think with the number of sponsors and the number of members, band-aids wouldn't be good enough. Clearly a new dedicated server would be priority number one. The growth here as been phenomenal and pinching pennies certainly is not the answer to keep this site healthy.

The sponsors and members aren't going to stand for the stuff that's going on here much longer. My time is important to me, and I don't want to waste it on a flaky site.

There is a wealth of knowledge in our member base, and it would be a shame to throw it all away because the site can't be kept workable and up-to-date.

Victor - you're treading on thin ice here. Also, with problems like we're having (and I do mean we). Wisecracks and threats are not the answer.

What can we do to help?

Just my thoughts.

Lou
