I'd like to start accumulating all of my parts for my engine rebuild, just wanted to know what all i needed...every last part, to minimize any delays!!!
please give me some insite as to where to purchase the following/ what brands... (or vendors- chime in)
here's what i figure i need so far:
1) pistons/rods (going through sharif)
2) piston rings
3) head gaskets
4) fuel return system (gq-you got me?)
5) studs (i don't know what they are properly called- bolts to hold it all together for high compression)
I'd like to itemize the labor too:
1) pull motor
2) ?
3) ?
4) ?
any bearings/other hardware needed?
i'm planning on doing a clutch/flywheel on at the same time to take advantage of saving labor costs- anything else i should do while the motor is out?
PLEASE GIVE ME ALL THE IMPUT YOU CAN...AS TO WHERE TO BUY AND BRANDS TO GO WITH...
thanks again!

here's what i figure i need so far:
1) pistons/rods (going through sharif) <--- Good choice
2) piston rings <--- Will come with the pistons
3) head gaskets <---- stock are good to 800+ Rwhp
4) fuel return system (gq-you got me?) <---- The AAM system is nice
5) studs <--- You will want ARP Head and Main Studs
any bearings/other hardware needed? <--- Bearing will need to be speced by the machine shop that does the engine build. I also recommend getting the bearings ceramic coated to strengthen them.
i'm planning on doing a clutch/flywheel on at the same time to take advantage of saving labor costs- anything else i should do while the motor is out? <---- You could think about doing headwork and cams to improve top end power.

kyle: thanks for all the info... ceramic coating the bearings- is this done by a machine shop as well?
headwork- like port and polish...what else? stick with stock cams?
Thanks

Nice Kyle...you beat me to it....but I agree completely.
350zDcalb, you mentioned in your PM that you want to run around 550whp for the street, but have the potential to run over 700whp for the track. Kyle has more experience with this than me...but I think you will likely need extensive head work/cams to get to that level. The stock head is probably good for an easy 550whp or so...beyond that is uncertain...since I dont know of anyone that has gotten that much power from the stock head without porting, cams, etc.
My personal goal is 550whp...maybe a bit more...and I have no plans to add a cam just yet....I am still debating the pros and cons.
Just some things to think about...
Oh, almost forgot...you will also need larger injectors if you intend to run more tan 450whp. If you want to stick with RC's you could upgrade to anything between 550cc-750cc...they are the same body size as the 440cc injectors. Bigger is no always better...since you may end up running rich at idle, or having a rough idle, or other drivability isssues.
and for a shameless plug, I have that GB going on the AAM Return Fuel System in the Private GB area.
