I am not 100% sure, but I think Stillen S/C is the only one with a CURRENT carb legal cert.

Although, all the kits are working on getting it done.

To be honest though, you living in Houston, Texas.. this carb legal thing doesn't need to be something you are concerned about. It is really easy to get an inspection with having the kits that aren't carb legal, the only ones that have to worry are Californians.

If I was you, considering an HKS, I would tell you to go Greddy, about the same money and Greddy is well a TT...

if you like the Vortech kit, Avalon Racing a vendor on here is selling them for 4071 shipped until Dec. 15. This pricing is unheard of! so i would jump on it now...

Hope this helps!

PA is pretty strict on emissions as well, there are quite a few states concerned with emissions.

Greddy - CARB pending. (they may already have it though)
HKS - CARB pending.
Stillen - CARB approved.
APS - I don't think they are CARB approved.
Turbonetics - Not CARB approved.
Power Enterprise - Not CARB approved as far as I know.
Vortech - Not CARB approved.
JWT - Emissions legal.

Boy, I thought we had a lot of options until I had to answer this, I must be missing some f/i kits or something. Can't wait to see what A'Pexi comes up with.

you left out the ATI procharger - Not CARB approved and APS single turbo (coming out late next year i think) - Not CARB approved. that makes 5 turbo and 4 SC set-ups, seems like a lot of options to me.

lol, I even went to procharger's website and looked it up and still forgot to put it on there. And I don't know if the APS single turbo will get CARB approval or not, I thought they were going to try to get it with this turbo kit because they didn't get it with the twin turbo kit.

This all depends on the state you live in. Not only the state but even the county or city.

I contacted my local APS dealer and they stated that the APS TT kit is in CARB pending and should be approved within the next 2 to 3 months...I hope he wasn't lying because I got my eyes on that baby

I am probably wrong about this but with a blow off valve doesn’t that automatically fail you at inspection?

The JWT kit is not even released yet. Has it really been carb approved? Or just pending??

Thanks for including the APS single intercooled turbo system to your list of products.

Now APS has no plan to CARB test the APS single turbo system as it's not posible to test the single turbo system to the CARB standard if the stock Nisan cats are not retained in the factory position.

Now that said the APS single turbo system with a good cat converter will pass the US Federal EPA verificarion emission test (IM 240).

Thanks

peter

All the systems out there except for the turbonetics single will pass the sniffer test with stock cats in place. It's the CARB standard that is much more difficult to obtain.

Im pretty sure that most of the kits should pass emissions, but thats just because its stupidly easy

I passed it on an old OLD gmc, with flying colors

I passed it with the stillen and high-flows too

How about the TT kit? Was my information wrong about you getting CARB Exempt for that one? Since I am in California this is essential in my decision

I went to JWT's site and looked at the pictures, one of the pictures is just a picture of text of info on the TT kit. It says ''Emission legal."

I would say the HKS is going to be very safe for daily driving. The APS would be too. It kind of depends on what you're goals are.

Has anyone actually heard that Apex'i is coming out with a kit? I don't know if they would fit (prob not), but a twin rx6 BB set up would be sehr sweet.

Yes the APS kit is a VERY good kit. The Shop I use is installing the kit on a Z now. I was over there looking at the kit and it is very well made. If you want to keep your car, for the most part, stock the APS kit is a very good choice. This does not mean that you can't build your motor with this kit. The APS kit would also be very good with a build motor. There are other kits out there like the Greddy and PE. All good kits but the Greddy kit is more involved with the install then the APS or PE kits. I would think the APS kit for your daily driver would work good for you.
