Default Need opinions on superchargers!

What is the best supercharger to use on the G35 coupe that
does NOT require a new hood! And how much is a typical installation including the supercharger? The G35 is just not fast
enough in stock form for my taste. So it's a supercharger or
the car is sold!

Install will most likely be 2500-5000 depending how in depth the install is and if you want a good install. If you find an install for 500-1000 I would check to see how many they have done and if they are still running.

On a Vortech?
Known for easy install 8-11 real hours maybe =10-15 billable hours.

I been quoted $800 for install.

I would say go with the Vortech kit. You can get one form Avalon Racing from ~$4075 with a $100 rebate thru Dec 15. Z1 Motorsports in Villa Rica GA quoted $650 for the install on a Z and I wouldnt expect it to be much more if any for the G. They had a Vortech on their project car for a little while.

If you go Vortech. Is that all your gonna do. No radiator, oil pan/cooler, gauges, tuning. It might be me but I'd think there'd be more to it than just slappin the thing on and making sure it works.

BTW, if you're getting centrifugal SC, expect most power above 3500-4000rpm. Between 2000 and 3000 (my daily driving) it is almost same as stock. Only TT or Stillen or Dreamworkes (are those guys gonna make that SC anytime soon?) can get you low-end torque and power.

The reason I'm mentioning this, even though I loathe Stillen, is for you to be VERY aware and sure what power range you seek before you invest.

Cheers.

im currently getting my HKS SC installed right now by a HKS Pro-dealer. i price shopped with the other Pro-dealers in the area and ended up getting a good price on an install with dyno/street tuning. IMO, if you plan on keeping your Z for a long while, get and HKS. sure, some folks have had problems with it (1 that i know of). and if you want huge HP gains this is not the kit for you. i will say that i think it does have good potential tho. me and my installer think you could easily get 40-50% more power out of this kit by pairing it up with a F CON V Pro (plan on spending another $3500 with install and extensive tuning). the HKS runs the quietest and generates the least amount of heat of all the SC kits. this has been reported by everyone who has come into contact with this kit. finally, you've got the HKS name on it and they WILL NOT let their products fail. just my $.02

Default Vortech

After much debate, and talking with Paul from Avalon, I went with the Vortech. It just seemed to make the most sense for what I was after.

Who knows, once the bug bites we are always looking for more.

Lets see if I remember:

This was last July

Vortech (satin) $4350
Ceramic coating (black) piping & s/c & paint I/C $340
zeitronix gauge with boost & egt $565
jwt oil pan spacer $89
install at Z1 motorsports $650
install gauge & wiring about $135
Tuning $350

So for me about $6500
