Default $this adds up quick$...but well worth it!

the thread about the 14k quote for the greddy twin turbo install inspired to roughly figure out how much i put into my car and how much i plan to put in soon...here's the breakdown...as always, any feedback is appreciated (i estimated the future labor costs-let me know if I'm off)

greddytt w/ fmic: $5760
profec e-01: $575 (i know the shop ripped me off!)
type s-bov: $130
walbro 255: $130
spark plugs: $45
borla true dual: $800
ignition harness: $45
turbo timer: $75
install all: $2000 (tt, e-01, fp, exhaust, harness,custom turbo timer install)
dynotuning: $210
------------------------------------> $9,725
parts accumulated for engine rebuild
fuel system: $845 (i had fpr from before $130+$715)
arias pistons:
pauter rods: $1860 (for both-from sharif)
main&head studs $425
-----------------------------------> $3,130
future parts to buy:
clutch & flywheel: $1900 (est-havent decided yet)
550 injectors: $500 (est-havent decided yet)
plenum $400 (est)
-----------------------------------> $2,800
estimated labor costs:
pull motor/ re-install motor $1500 (high estimate)
machine shop $1500 (high estimate)
install fuel system $200
install clutch flywheel while engine out:$200 (est)
dynotuning $250(est)
----------------------------------->$3650
need to order guages, wheels, and big brake kit
wideband $450
boost guage $130
egt guage $170
3 pillar pod $70
install---- $200(est)
tein w/ edfc $2000
install $300
volk rims/tires $3600
wilwood brakes $3500
brake install $250(est)
------------------------------------>$10,670

this brings us to a grand total of:$29,975

so, keep in mind, some of the labor I may do on my own...but I wanted to write up an estimate on the high side so I plan accordingly...I hope this is helpful to some, but please if any of my labor costs look off-PLEASE give me some imput so I can have an accurate overall estimate...

Add this to the initial price of the car, and this is gonna be a $60,000+ insane 550rwhp monster!

I have got to say one thing.......You must be crazy for that Z......I have a 91 mustang that has 522 bhp and have no were near 60K tied up in it(like 26K and that includes 6K for the car).Any how, I would look at your choice in compression ratio...I would make sure you are like 8.0:1 or 8.5:1 before adding any more than 8psi of boost...My stang motor is 8.0:1 and I run 12-15 psi all day long with any problem.....You would be supprised at how your instal prices will change if you get some things done at the same time...ie if you get the brake upgrade and the suspention put on at the sametime you may save 100 bucks or so....

350ZDCalb...thank you very much for making me cry! I knew I had a lot into my car, but I didnt want to add it up for fear of sticker shock. I have everything on that list and more!

And BLKturbo91, sure you can make a mustang fast for less....you can make a lot of cars...a LOT faster for less. By they dont have the look, style, handling, and mystique of the 350z.

Also, you might have made it up to that amount of hp cheap, but what about all the suspension parts and brake upgrades he added up there. Also, he does not need alot of that to make 550hp. He could not get the exhaust and just run no exhaust and get pulled all the time (just kidding). I hate when people with mustangs talk when they can only take us in straight lines.

Ok, here we go again. Trying to compare speed vs cost.....

Lets make it simple. Buy a street bike + add zero mods and it will beat your mustang or modded Z anyday of the week for a fraction of the cost. So, what is the point of comparing? If you like a Z, you like a Z and dont want a stang.

If we use bang for the buck as the only criteria, we would all be driving used pocket-rocket street bikes.

blkturbo01:
thanks for the imput:
i have researched this a little bit as well(as you can imagine)
i'm going with 9.0:1 because of my power/driveablility goals...i should be able to safely run much more than 8lbs..i'm thinking like 16-18lbs..gq...what do you think? what do you plan to run on your built motor...
also, part of the reason i'm accumulating all of these parts now, is because i DO plan on having many things done at once to save on labor costs...do my labor estimates seem high...please tell me which one's in particular so i can keep it in mind

THANKS!!!!

Busa + 75 shot. Or if someone calls that cheating, use a GT15R.

I stopped adding the cost of this car up . I work 7 days a week as it is and I've started to work 4 extra hours a couple a times a week to help pay for it . So I get reminded the price every time I do . In the end I believe it will be worth it

booger:
i'm right there with you...at this point, i work 6-7 days/week as well and there prolly comes a point that there aren't any more mods to do...then you buy another vehicle and start over again...hmmm

but i totally agree... it is all worth it! the z is an awesome car!

The proper CR for a particular car is very specific to the motor, its intended purpose, and the efficiency of the turbo....among many other variables. So the right CR for a mustang is likely very different from the proper CR for a 350Z.
