Default What's the best place in CA for FI work ?

Alright so it looks like I might be moving to the bay area (Silicon Valley) for a career. I decided I'm prolly gonna take my baby with me.

It needs some fixin up, since it still blows some white smoke now & then while driving and I want to have that nailed down before I go crazy with it.

Sharif I know you lived there... anyone know some TOP places to get things done ? I might build my internals as well if I have to...

If you are moving to the Bay Area the best place to go to is Z Car Garage in San Jose. They have installed several Vortech SC, Greddy TT kits, Stillen SC, APS TT kits, etc. You name it, they have done it. Within the next couple of months the 500HP Vortech charged G35 is going to be featured in Sport Compact. It will be the second car this year featured in a magazine. All of my work is done there and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my car. The customer service is great! If you want power in the Bay Area Z Car Garage is the place to go. PM me if you have any questions.

Also, how the hell do you deal with Smog ? I mean if that place installs all those TTs, what do those people do about smog inspection/licensing ?

Be careful here. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think you have to have it smogged when you move here from out of state. If your already running a TT that isn't carb exempt (which kit is) the smog shops won't even touch your car. Some of them won't even touch your car if your just running a CAI! Just an FYI...

Slay..

I am from L.A. and moved up to S.F. for school. I investigated the scene myself and have in fact visited the Z Car Garage. They seem to be a very professional shop (can't testify as to the actual quality of heir work - but it is expected to be good I suppose). However, from what I see, that is the only shop that I ever came across. So, we need to expand the search. PM me some time, I'll tell you a little abut smog.

My forged LB is currently being done thru Z-car in SJ and most likely an APS system with fuel system upgrade will also be installed by them when APS gets the G plumbing done in ~March. I intend to tune for 2 basic maps.
- One for 91 octane power (no CATs)
- One to specifically pass emissions (with CATS). Of course I'm "counting" on APS to get a CARB EO# .

Default APS Excitment

I was at Z Car Garage today as I was picking up my APS kit next door. I was fortunate enough to be able to drive their shop car....a Twin Turbo APS 350Z. I tell ya what....that car gave me a serious rush. My friend who came down to San Jose with me just kept going on and on about that car for the 3 hour drive back! Can't wait to have the rest of my parts collected to go forward with the install of my APS kit. Even got to meet a fellow member to this forum there at the shop.
For now my kit is literally under the X-Mas tree...of course I had to open and look in every box. My wife took pictures on the digital....finding my excitment amusing.

Yeah, I have to say that the APS kit is BAD ***! I didn't give it the credit it deserved prior to driving it because I am running twice the boost on my Vortech. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised and impressed. I also couldn't believe how much quieter it is than my car.

Hmm... time for more power!

slay2k if you do indeed have to smog your car when you move. (I believe you do) there are ways around it everything. I would talk to some of the local members and see if they know anyone. If not, I do know of someone but he is pretty far south of the Bay Area but you WILL pass.
