so, i know the title is a bit misleading, but i did just buy another car... a beater, while my 350z gets rebuilt. i will post pics of my new addition asap.. it will be in my possession tomorrow.
The car is a 1983 Datsun 280ZX... has "Z" emblems all over... was in a rear end collision, runs great, and cost me less than the price of one volk rim (you do the marh)

I know what you mean!!! I have a rockin 1982 S-10 blazer that I rock in the winter and on rainy days!!!!! No going to let my G35 see anything crazy!!!

 

I had the privelage and honor of being one of the first riders in Todd's new Z. And all I will say is it turns like its on rails!!!

i know you all are very anxious to see some pics...i will post them soon, first i gotta get around the emmisions thing, cause i tested and failed, installed a new cat, failed less, but still failed, they have some law out here that if u can show it will cost more than $300 to make it pass, they will give you a 1 year grace period...thats what i need, cause i ain't putting any more $$$ in this beater, i'll go offroad it and be done with it if that's the case!

anyway, ernie is gonna help me get the left rear bumper off of the ground (this car was in a little fender bender)... this is a z nontheless... my 350z should be back to me in 6 weeks

 

Gee 350zDCalb is your 83 280Z a turbo or N/A?

Does the car run fine until the Oil Tempature is 160 Degree F
then start freaking out..?

I've two 1981 280ZX Turbo Coupe... I solve many of the common problems..

i have all my parts, sitting in my bedroom..except for ARP main studs...my arias pistons...and ther pauter rods..
BTW, since i already ordered the pauter rods...if they get here in time, i'll have some carillo rods for sale..so, if anyone needs some carillo rods for their 350z rebuild...pm me..i'll let em go for what i git them for, and i got a really good deal!!!

On your N/A 280ZX - try a Generic Replacement O2 Sensor.. About $20 - The logic of the CPU back in 198X was to wait for Oil and Cylinder Head Temp sensors to come up to temperature - then the CPU would go into a learning mode. Then the CPU polled the O2 sensor and MAF for best results - these results were stored in Cmos for next startup..
