OK guys i have the details on how this needs to work out if its going to happen. I want to see what you guys think.

What you would be getting is this:

Starting out with a plug, manufacturered by the same company that made the plug thats already on your car. That connector already attached to the cable with the 3 terminals and water seals and white plastic front face. The cable is supplied by Motec. Its the same cable they use for crank triggers. It would be 8 feet in length. Motec is also supplying me with a special ground connector for attaching to the shielding so that this cable can be grounded to the mounting point of the trigger itself.

They recommended this as the best method and told me grounding the other end at the same time would result in a worse scenario... only want to ground one end. Once again, I am not an electronic engineer... so this tech knowledge is over my head.

Moving on... It would take me 3-4 weeks to be able to ship this. First week of Febuary would be the realistic goal. This is because the connectors would be coming from the manufacturer that is in Japan.

The cost of the connectors is high... because you are supposed to order them in MASSIVE quanities... so I am being charged a couple hundred dollars in fees for breaking that quanity rule. ALso... I am being charged over $600 to expedite the order. This is because it would take only 2-3 weeks to get here, versus the normal 14-16 weeks they say.

Unfortunatly my regular source of these types of connectors does not carry this particular one yet. Otherwise it would be cheaper and faster to get.

So here is where we stand. If guys would like me to get you a very high quality shielded cable with the OEM plug attached to one end of it, and the other end ready to be wired to your factory ECU plug, with instructions on how to install it... its going to take:

$75 each.

This is more than I estimated it would take, because of out of control fees for not ordering crazy ammounts of these plugs (literally thousands) and the fees for not waiting for their 14-16 week build to order and sea freight.

So I want to see what you guys think.

Is this worth $75 to you? Would you put a $30 deposit on that?

If you answered "yes" and "yes", and there are at least 29 other fellows that feel the same way. Then we are a GO.

I will wait for Sharif to chime in here.

Sorry I couldnt meet the $60 price goal guys.

phunk, your doing a hell of a job, $75 is more than realistic for a qautlity part as you are describing. i would gladly prepay you the full price for two reasons. 1-your going beyond the expectations of numerous members here to do this for us and 2- i know due to the research you have done as well with the aid of your EE friend that this is exactly what FI z owners are going to need! *applause* to getting to the point your at as promtly as you have!!

Thanks Justin... if everyone agrees with you than this is a go.

Before I actually purchase the cable I want to test it tho... I mean the plugs are gonna take 2-3 weeks... and we need those no matter what.

But the cable I can get any time any where... in the time waiting for the connectors I want to get a car over here on my dyno and put it on a scope and see if I can see this noise for myself, and then see if the sample of this Motec cable I have is the cure. Because I really do not like the idea of selling this before testing it with the cable to be used to see a real world result.

Yes and Yes--as long as the cable does what it supposed to do.

Thanks for all your efforts!

gersteinp: The cable will definatly do what its supposed to do. We already have good evidence it is needed, and I am going to do what I can in the time being to prove it... with evidence you guys can see with your own eyes...

I have found a local customer of mine with a Greddy twin turbo system who is willing to let me test this on his car this coming week!!!!

We will be putting it on an o-scope and looking high and low for this interference. Why? Because I would rather be able to prove to you guys that your $75 is getting you a part that actually helps your situation.

Once we find the noise, I have a sample of the wire I am getting from Motec that we will run and see if its going to do the job or if I need to source something else in the 2-3 week wait we have for the connectors.

Is this wire harness going to do both the crank angle sensor and cam sensor ? Or just the crank ?

$75 is fine with me. As for some of the costs, if you want to "slow-boat" the connectors over from Japan I am also fine with that - my Z is tucked in for the snowy winter....I suspect that most others will want this ASAP though.

Thanks again for working this out for all of us.

this is just for the crank trigger. I could add in the cam trigger ones for less tho for those who want that... because the whole cost of mine is mostly the fees and everything. Ill figure out what I could do if people wanted the cam triggers too. Of course the cam trigger ones are not quite as important and far less likely to cause engine damage.
