They won't build it, but depending on the option price, I think quite a few 350Z owners would buy it if they ever did.

Are we talking about a new model option or a refit kit for the current model?

For a new model with a SC option I'd probably be willing to pay about 8k over the current price depending on the performance numbers.

For a refit I might pay 6-7 thousand installed if they would agree to still honor the factory warranty on the drivetrain.

If I knew then, what I know now, when I purchased the Z...............I wouldn't have bought the car.

If they don't offer it soon it will certainly hurt their future sales numbers.

Nissan Marketing = C-

Well stillen is sold at Performance nissan and it keeps the warranty so my guess is that obviously they do offer a kit. its carb legal, the most reliable and they install it.

I'd get the Stillen kit if it wasn't for that stupid looking hood that you have to use.

Nismo won't offer a kit for the Z because that's not the direction that they want to take with their racing/tuning. They don't want to waste money developing a new kit, new motor (regardless of how good ours is, they will have to do some changes to ours, even if it's minor), If they are never going to use it to further the developement of their cars. The titan is a different story, because it's a US product, and Nismo Sub-ed out the R and D to Vortech, and all nismo will really do is put their stam of approval on it. I have not gotten any word on this Titan supercharger yet anyway to know for sure.
So basically, from nismo's standpoint, it would be a waste, especially when the new GTR is coming out, and will be an even more advanced motor.

I called Vortech and they confirmed that the SC kit for the Titan is in production but is only going to be distributed via Nismo. In other words Vortech cannot sell you the kit you MUST go through Nismo to get it. There is no reason why Nissan couldn't do the same exact thing here. They seemed to be real happy with the HKS unit at SEMA. Why couldn't they subcontract something with one of our a/f companies here. Now granted I'm speaking subjectively here as i would boost my car whether nissan made a kit or not and am in fact doing that now. The reason I think Nissan wont dont is not because not further developing our car i think its more a liablity issue with them. I mean even with a Vortech SC how many Titans are you going to see at the street races or blatantly racing down the rode. Not many. Yes some will but a lot wont. Now flip that to a Z. A sports car with forced induction is a HUGE risk to take. Even though Nissan is not DIRECTLY responsible for what happens they will still get blamed somehow.

If liability is such a concern, why are there so many higher horsepowers cars, like a Vette, Viper, or even M3 available?

According to the news, the big push at the Detroit Auto Show is MORE HORSEPOWER

Duh Nissan ?

Its money. Nissan know better than anyone how s**tty their rods are so fi option would either 15k with better internals (which not many would pay) or 6-7 and a lot of engines replaced under warranty.

Is it possible, the reason Nissan is providing an optional supercharger kit for the Titan is to compete with the optional TRD supercharger for the Tundra?

Could be right on that one. This is why I am happy when new cars like Supra are coming out. Everytime a competitor ups the performance, others got to match it. To me, this is the best chance Z people have for us to get more hp in future Z's.
