Default to those with wideband a/f gauge

ok, i have gotten intouch with the company that i purchased my wideband aem a/f gauge from and they are going to replace my sensor. before i ship it out to aem, i want to see what everone else's gauge reads when the car is in say 2nd gear and about 5 k rpm, mine will read 16.XX, sometimes full lean, is it not supposed to be reading about 11.8 or so around that speed, or is it because im only in that gear for a couple of seconds that it doesn't have time to read it correctly ? aem said they would replace my sensor only since i already have the gauge installed. That is a GREAT thing since it would be a B1itch to take it out ...

The AEM wideband gauges have a known defect. Mine and a couple other peope on the board had AEM's go bad. You need to send the whole thing back for replacement.

I sent mine to aem along with a some actual pictures of how the gauge was acting and a little letter telling them how pissed i was about their product. A week later i was sent a whole new aem gauge with a new o2 sensor as well.

but my question wasn't answered, i know about the problem with them, but i still need to know the a/f number in 2nd gear around 15, if a car is tuned and running good, should it be around 11.8 or around 15 or higher at 3k rpm.

If you are cruising...in any gear....the A/F should be close to 14.7...might bounce a but somewhere in that range. 11.5:1 is goof for WOT. but if you have issues with the guage itself, the numbers you are seeing will be inaccurate.

Mia, I havent gotten my new wideband yet. I dont plan on using it, since I bought the LM.1 The AEM worked great for 6months or 8000miles or so.

same installation process. The handheld logger/display unit plus a 2 1/16th gauge is about $450. since you can datalog on the unit, it makes it more functional than the AEM.

Do you have a link to this gauge and have you been using it? If so how do you like it compared to the AEM?

Mia, I havent installed it yet, but my tuning shop and many others have had high praise for the unit.

here is the link. i ordered the Lm-1 and the gauge (black face) together. There is also a neat datalogging box that has some pretty amazing software and advanced datalogging capabilities.

Thanks gq...Did you order this through your tuning shop or online. It seems that their webpage does not allow you to order the gauge I don't believe the page has been updated. Also when do you plan to install this as I would like to hear what you think before I purchase this. I had my mind set on the AEM but your input on this one would most certainly assist in the decision since you have also had the AEM one, Thanks again Sharif

Me, and cat bought them from my tuning shop. CP Racing www.cprace.com

The website is kinda cumbersome, so just call and ask for Eric...he'll know exactly what you are talking about.

Note: Fo course I support the board vendors, but I havent seen LM-1 on any of their online sites.

GQ - just curious.. i am considering the zietronix for A/F and probably boost, but would be interested in your thoughts between the LM-1 and Zeitronix?

Innovate! is by far te better solution. With their next firmware/software update, you will be able to daisy chain several LM-3 auxbox' and have up to 30 inputs logged/displayed at the same time. On top of this, you can jsut buy as many of the XD-1 displays as you wish and daisy cain them (also, you can photoshop your own gauge face, print it out, and adapt it onto the XD1). Again, there is simply no comparison. it takes ALL guessing out of the equation...

I prefer the Lm-1 for the resons states above, and just about every dyno shop I have seen in my area....all 3 of them...uses LM-1 stuff. I think technosquare uses it as well. It seems very industrial and well made.

Default Analog output use

Just a note about the LM-1.
With the datalogger expansion box , it can provide a mapable analog output from 0-5V (typically to feed into an ECU, but not needed fro most of the current TT installs. If you want to drive an NB type guage ie. DEFI-D, autometer etc., this output can map lambda input to a 0-1V non-linear output curve (simple truncation of th efull 0-5V curve..

I was going to use the PLX, device but I sent it back and decided to use the LM-1 with it's more flexible output to drive a DEFI-D. It allows one to more precisely map point-by-point the required analog curve. The PLX NB adapter is a fixed curve.
