I was talking to Tom at Light Speed the other day. He told me that you had called him. I hope he helped you with any questions you may of had.

Chris
mazzoo - Yeah, i talked to Tom for a little bit about your car and helped me out with a couple questions. Nice setup by the way.

UPDATE on the Parts List:
Block:
-Pauter(definitely)
-Wiseco 8.8.1(definitely)
-Staying stock bore/.20 over for now. When i get the block out of the stock motor thats in my car now,not the spare motor for the build, we'll build a sleeved big-bore setup.
-Performance Nissan OEM full rebuild gasket kit, OEM oil pump, OEM water pump, etc...
Fuel System:
-Talked with CJ-Motorsports today and we're definitely going to be working with Charles for the fuel setup.
Cooling System:
-Koyo Radiator
-XS Engineering Oil Cooler

Derek, by stock bore/.020 I assume you mean you are going to get overbore pistons .020

Correct?

Z-1 Performance - Thanks Adam for the great price on the Tomei 268's for this project. I'm sure DSport and I will be working with you a lot on this build-up.

gq - Correct, .020 overbore Wiseco 8.8.1's. We decided not to sleeve this block so this will be the perfect opportunity for everyone to find out if the stock sleeves will handle 600-700hp.

I'll eventually sleeve the stock block thats in the car right now to evaluate the jump from a 3.5 to a 3.8/9. Should be interesting...

Okay Guys,

I just got off the phone with Vortech and its a go!

We're going to be working with Vortech for the F.I. system for our Project G35. This is a great opportunity for everyone to find out the potential of a fully built, supercharged VQ motor.

We're unsure on the specifics of the Trim and Pulley sizes right now but we'll definitely be covering all of that info throughout the build-up.

Let me know what you guys think, what you want to know and what you'd like to be covered.

Thanks guys,

-Derek,

Derik, does Vortech plan on offering a pulley that can support 20psi or more? Can the blower actually suppor that much? To my knowledge...they dont..and it cant.

Are the doing something custom for you guys or is this an off the shelf SC unit. If not, then 600-700whp is not going to be possible...not even close....with the Vortech SC.

Sharif - From what i got out of the discussion with Vortech we're going to be going with a bigger supercharger altogether. Instead of a V-1 S-Trim(1000 CFM, Max PSI:20, 50000 RPM), i think we might go with a V-1 T-Trim(1200 CFM, Max PSI:26, 55000RPM). Don't take this as definite answer but i think thats the plan...Hopefully it fits

As of now this is a custom setup, but if all goes well i believe it could turn into an off the shelf setup.

This is one of the good things about project cars, they lead to companies making production items that weren't available before-hand.

Update on the Project:
-Block is disassembled and at Cosworth for the machine work, just waiting for the RPS clutch and flywheel to get everything balanced

-Head is at M2 Race Systems for a port & polish, 5-axis CNC and installation of the Ferrea valvetrain.

-Tomei 268's are on their way, thanks to Adam at Z-1

-Car is at Design Craft Fabrication for a custom NHRA 5-Point Roll Bar.

We did an update on all of DSport's Project cars, including our G35, in our May 05' issue which should hit newsstands on March 29th. We get some copies in the office early so if anyone wants to get this issue let me know and i'll hook you up.

Thanks,
-Derek,
DSport

Please be advised..

On a G35 we saw at Mossy Show in San Diego...

The unit was a "Stock" Vortech... It had bit of belt noise..
When the owner asked us what could be wrong..

We took a straight edge - Metal Meter Stick - and showed the bow
in the Vortech mounting plate...Which looks strong but has a tendendency to bow as you tighten the drive belt... Which mis-aligned the drive pulley to blower pulley angle.

P.S. you could use a straight metal YARD stick and get abought 3/16" of bow in the middle... This equates to about 2 degree difference on pulley angle..

Cheers Amy -

Thanks for the comments guys. It should be very interesting to see how things go. Hopefully it will be the worlds highest hp, quickest and fastest supercharged G35/350Z. Trying to keep up with the turbo boys.
