2 step colder plugs for a vortec job what would the p/n be?

One step colder plugs are fine for your setup. I'm currently running NGK PLFR6A-11 gapped to .035 and the car runs great.

 

Do you have the one step colder part number for iridium?

 

I'm not sure why the iridiums are cheaper but here is the part number LFR6AIX-11.

Not long before taking the engine out I tried some LFR6AIX-11 gapped around what you are running and the car didnt run as well and I went back to stock plugs the same day and the car ran better.

Factory gap is .043. The only reason I could think of would be to lower resistance with high boost?

 

well yes thats why you would do it... but i am asking if he actually had a problem with miss firing that would cause him to feel a need to reduce the gap, or if he just did it because the factory gap just seems so large for a high HP boosted engine.

I just figured the .044 gap was way to large for FI. So I went ahead and gapped them to .035 knowing that I was going to run higher boost. I can't comment on the Iridiums for the Z since I generally stay away from them in most applications. They are kinda my last choice in plugs, never had great results with Iridiums. Maybe others might have better success.
I did the smaller gap at the same time as the APS TT was installed, never played with the stock gap on our car.

they are also both used in the suburus stock, so you can probably get them locally from autozone or pepboys.

personally i'd rather go with copper and change my plugs more often.

 

Ive ran Iridium plugs with my Vortech at the stock gap with no problems so far . But I am going to try to get the boost up to about 12lb's . Do you think I should close the gap some ?

 

The best plugs you can get are Brisk. This is the plug I use and let me tell you it makes all the difference.

I seen them plugs awhile back . Was waiting to see if any one tried them . Hard to believe you can get 20hp across the board with a new plug .

 

I know, I did not think you could either. Light Speed did some dyno test before and after with the plugs. I will see if I can get the dyno numbers and charts from them.
