Greddy Intercooler
Does anyone know if you can use a different manufacturer's intercooler to work with the Greddy setup?
More specifically: finding an intercooler to fit within the bumper brace of a G35 coupe.
Why is getting a turbo setup such a pain in the $#* for the G.
Greddy - You have to cut out your bumper brace.
PE - You also have to cut the bumper brace and is way too expensive.
APS - Too expensive and not ready for the G.
Turbonetics - Not ready for G and I've been getting a lot of negative recommendations from tune shops.

not that I know of... you can always get a custom fabrication... but that would cost a lot... I've always wondered why no one has designed an aftermarket brace to fix this issue..
I personally dont care about it.. I really dont think its going to do much for my intercooler anyway... it'll just bend in and damage the intercooler so whats the use... if I hit something with the front of my car it was my fault anyway...
How close is the brace to anything in stock form.. I never checked... is it possible to put spacers there or is the bracer too close to the front bumper..?

With the PE kit, the bumper brace can remain in place.
Regarding the Greddy intercooler, it is not the side of the intercooler that prevents the use of the bumper brace. The top intake tune is what would be obstructed.
What you "could" do, is cut off the passenger end tank, and attach a new single lower entry end tank, and then join the independent output tubes for the turbo compressors into one....and then run that single lower through the intercooler.
Doable...but a pain.

BTW, should be very soon, the VP of Turbonetics owns a G35c and he's ready to get his fitted with their kit.

I've spoken to Battleground Engineering, Z1 Performance, Ultimate Auto Boutique and Balanced Performance. The general consesus seems to be with the Greddy as far as the price/performance ratio and "money no object" gives it to the PE-Power Enterprise. When I ask about the Turbonetics, 2 out of 3 responses reported blown engines with Z cars and Supras.
I personally would rather go with the Turbonetics because it seems like a perfect fit (in the engine bay) and it is the least expensive. Also, it's just plain beautiful and the turbo sits right in the intake compartment for everyone to see!......but I would never install a unit that could blow a hole in my engine.
So while I haven't quite made up my mind on which TT - I do think that I'm most comfortable with Balanced Performance for the install.......unless anyone has a horror story?

SO - I've been doing a lot of research into the right Tuner Shop for the install as well as which TT to place into the G.

The only people with a Turbonetics kit right now are: Turbonetics (their test car) and MIAPLAYA (hasn't blown an engine, is getting testing done by Turbonetics).Turbonetics install will be shorter than any other kit, and, tuning is done by a reflash (you send your ECU to Turbonetics, they reflash it). Granted, if you plan on going over 430rwhp, I would choose a different method for tuning, and...fuel (change it to return-style). And Brad@Turbonetics says the G35 kit will be out and shipping by the end of March.

Let me reiterate - I'm not partial , I'm only looking for the best solution with the fewest headaches. I do realize that there is always going to be "stuff" that happens and that's part of the fun when pushing your car beyond stock but I still wouldn't put a sub-par system in my car. I would have shot myself if I went with the ATI when it first came out!

Well, I didn't ask for specifics - I'm only going on what I was told. I personally know someone with a Supra that has a Turbonetics turbo pushing 600 hp. He swears by Turbonetics.

IMO, it's Turbonetics, APS, SSR/SFR, or JWT. The others aren't complete solutions.
For the money is no object solution....that would undoubtedly be the APS kit. The PE is also slighltly incomplete out of the box. It has no provisions for tuning..and comes without a reflash. So you are stuck at around 5psi or less unless you are brave enough to increase boost without an engine management solution of some kind...or a reflash.
Go APS if money is no object, and Greddy if money is an object. The Greddy is a good base for future upgrades, but VERY incomplete/borderline dangerous out of the box...especially if you run 91 octane fuel.
