Default "Service engine soon" light with Turbo

Hey, I normally post on G35driver since I have a 2003 G35 coupe. However, since there are more of you here with forced induction, I have a question for you. It's been about 3 weeks since my Greddy TT kit was installed along with the FMIC and exhaust. Two days ago the "Service Engine Soon" light came on and it has been on ever since. I am assuming that it is just an emissions thing ( I still have my cats in though), but I do not have an OBDII scanner to verify this. Has anyone else had this happenor have any idea what is causing this?

I just installed an ATI in my G and also had the same problem. When my I hooked up the scanner it read that I was running rich in Bank#2. I then reseted it. A few days later it came on again and after a few hours it went away.

I thought FL had no emissions tests.

In any case, what year is your car. I will guess you have a 2004 and the ecu is just reading a rich condition.

You are correct, only certain counties in FL had emissions testing but now as far as I know none of them do any more. My car is a 2003 G35 coupe, I have the AEM wideband O2 sensor and it reads steadily from 14.7 to 14.9 during normal driving and 11s at WOT and full boost.

To answer the question, yes you do need an OBDII scanner to get the code, many shops have them or auto parts places where they can read it for you cna clear it. Then come back with the code and we will tell you what it means.

Or you can buy your own scanner gadget for around 80 bucks www.digimoto.com is where I got mine.

I get that light every once and a while...

It goes on for a couple hundred miles.. then just shuts off..
Had the kit on for over a year and have had problems driving with it on or not...

I'd like to figure out what it is... but i dont think you need to be afraid... just go somewhere and see what it is..

Yeah, I get the light during the warmer months (none thus far in the winter) . . . my real issue is the lack of power. If I could just put my finger on it . . . *LOL*
