Got My Bill $$$ For The Aps Install

Four years of medical school cost twice that. As an intern and a resident you earn peanuts and worked your a$$ off and until recent laws limited your work week to 80 hours (I unfortunately missed this and worked 100-120 hour work WEEKS not counting all the times I got out of bed in the middle of the night to go to the ER) .
How much malpractice do you pay a year. In my specialty, we routinely pay $150-200K a year.
Finally, I hope you realize that your dental bill (or your medical bill from the hospital) has little to do with what the doctor charges and what he gets (I'll expound on the difference in a minute). Most of what you mentioned went to the price of the implants and ancillary costs. Not what the dentist made to do the job necessarily.
People often ask me how much I charge for certain procedures. I honestly tell them I don't know (I really don't). But it wouldn't matter what I charged. I could charge a million dollars for a hip replacement but Medicare (or whatever insurance company I am working for) will pay me what THEY think is fair. Guess which amount is higher!
If the patient doesn't have insurance, I basically do it for free since you can't get blood from a stone. Oh yeah, I can STILL be sued by someone I did free work for BTW.
Look at it this way. It's as if I brought my car in to you for a TT install and engine rebuild. You say, I did the work, now you owe me $7000. Then I tell you, well...you did a nice job but I think the job you did is only worth $2000 and you'll take that amount and like it. Or, I could say "I think it's worth $2000 so I'll pay you 80% of that and you have to go after the other 20% yourself (good luck getting it by the way).
Just trying to put things in perspective since I was called "ignorant" in a previous post here.

Should have become a Dentist
Could you please explain what is involved with the $1,300 machining expense and why it's necessary?
I understand how the bill got to $7k+ however, if it were me, I would have been upset if I got a quote for about half as much and ended up having to pay twice what I expected.
You may have already answered this but, was a written estimate given? Was there a discussion of what parts and labor was anticipated? Was authorization requested to continue when the estimated cost was exceeded? Was the customer notified of the revised estimate before the job continued?
I'm very wary about this kind of problem. Once the job starts, you can't just leave it half finished. The owner can feel like the car is being held hostage if the demand for payment isn't met. Lien sales can and do happen. For this kind of a problem, if I thought someone was screwing with me, I'd give two weeks to try to resolve the problem and then, I'd file in Superior Court.
At any rate, I glad you guys worked it out. Charles, I've read your posts and I know you know what you're doing. You're the type of guy I'd go to have work done on my Z. However, in the future, I'd suggest you make it very clear what expense is anticipated. That, in my opinion, is clearly the responsibility of the servicer not the customer.

Well I have something a little more important to ask. Does the car kick A$$ or not?! Dude, built motor, APS turbo. That's my freakin Dream Car. All this talk about the business, I'd rather here more about the Car itself.
When's that puppy going to be on the Dyno. We are talking about a possible 11 sec car here. Where are the PICTURES!!! Charles, please post some pictures if Jeff gives you permission.

But...wait, can you hear that...shhhhhhh, listen
that's the sound of nobody giving a f%$k!!!
Now, that we cleared that up, let's talk more about cars and less about MD's.

Sorry about the off topic tangents here but I'm just replying to this kind of attack.

Ok, its time to end the thread. Everyone here is a Z or G owner and to get mad at each other like this is not good. Come on now we all are trying to discuss options for our cars. Keep the negative things out. All parties included, end it.
niz....again, we are in dire need of your moderating abilities...please delete the entire "DR BONZ" related discussion-as it does not belong on this forum
and BTW doc...it was a joke, not a representation of professionalism...when i'm at work im doc...when im on the forums, i like to pursue my other love-fast cars...so please, drop it

Ok, i'll just close the thread.
The only reason to drag this on would be because jak wanted to post pics, which, he hasn't done, and, Charles hasn't done. So if they want to post pics, they can start a new thread.
This is ok with everyone right?
