Going Greddy TT...recommendations please
Ok, I did it. After only 3 weeks of having my vortech installed I decided I want more power.....especially after I got torqued by an STI the other night on the freeway. Please make any recommendations on other items (cheap items) you would suggest I get. When I say cheap I mean little items.
I am planning on building the motor within 6-12 months. I would do it now but the wife would divorce me. She is having a cow about how much money I've spent on the car. For now I plan on running 9lbs. I should have my car back by next friday......I am so fuggin happy!
Here's what I got:
Greddy TT with FMIC
Tial BOV
Greddy Type S boost controller
Greddy Turbo Timers
Greddy EVO II
AAM Spec Fuel Return Solution (bought from Sharif)
Crawford Cast Plenum
Sending ECU for L-spec flash

Wow, I hope u don't mean that u will be running ur Greddy TT at 9psi with the stuff u just listed. That would not be a very good idea. I know you are used to your SC, and you can run that pretty safely at 9psi with ur current setup, but the TT is different. A TT can produce the same hp and tq at a lower psi than a SC. With 9psi, you are probably looking at around 450rwhp or more (based on some dyno charts I've seen). I'm not sure how long your internals would be able to hold out, but without a great tune they wouldn't last very long.
On to your question, I can see you already have the Greddy e-manage, so I would suggest if you want to run that high of a boost, then you should at the very least add a J&S safeguard ($489), and a Walbro Fuel Pump ($110) <-- don't think thats included in the fuel return solution that u bought. I would still suggest you run at like 7.5 psi for the start at least.

The fuel pump comes with the greddy kit, so yes I will have one. I plan on getting it map tuned to just under 11.5 for the a/f. I will also have two map on the boost gauge maybe a 5lb and the 9lb, this way I don't drive around all the time with the 9lb settings.
You're right. For some reason I thought it came with it. Thanks! I just ordered it.

Thanks for the order...its on the way!
One of the biggest limitations of the stock Greddy kit is lack of a return fuel system, rising rate FPR, and timing solution. If you address these, and also get the shielded crank angle sensor from the GB, I "think" you can run the car safely at 8.5psi. There are many of us on the boards that have done this already. I am still leaning towards poor tuning, and lack of a shielded crank angle cable, as the cause of most of the Greddy failures.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but do u happen to have a link to the GB for the shielded crank angle sensor? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

My Greddy front bumper should be here in that same time.
That means my car will be on the road in about 3 weeks !

Here's what I got. Would you recommend anything else other than a built motor????? I already have 1 step colder plugs on the car. Should I go 2 step closer. I will be boosting between 8-9lbs.
*Greddy TT with FMIC
*Tial BOV
*Greddy Profec Type S boost controller
*Greddy Turbo Timers
*Greddy EVO II
*AAM Spec Fuel Return Solution (bought from Sharif)
*Walboro 255 (Sharif again)
*Crawford Cast Plenum
*Sending ECU for L-spec flash (without rev limiter, injectors scaled to 440, timing maps stabablized to the most conservative OEM setting)
*Crank angle wire (I won't have it for the install, but will put in on as soon as I get it)

One step colder plugs are fine. In fact I ran stock heat range plugs and so did Phunk for quite some time. I do recommend one step colder though unless you are very confident in your tune.
A few other concerns... I ran a Tial BOV on my first set up and it leaked so much air, the car would die when you let off the throttle. The HKS SSQV or Greddy Type RS are the favorites to avoid this. You should get the ignition harness for the e-Manage to control timing. Well worth the investment. Consider adding a WBO2 guage from AEM or Zeitronix to monitor AF ratios and avoid a disaster. Throw in some test pipes or high flow cats and you're in business. The only other thing you will need is a bulletproof tune from a good tuner and you will be fine for 6 to 12 months. Good luck!

Thanks! I already have the timing harness and the AEM wideband with my current set up. I will considered the greddy rs bov. I am dropping my car off tomorrow.

The Greddy is the least desirable TT kit now IMO.
I would have gone with APS except for two reasons.
1. Lack of authorized or shops that know how to tune the Unichip. There is not one single unichip tuner in FL. Shipping my car across state to get it tuned is not an option I would consider, and I will not pay for someone's airfare and hotel to come down to tune my car on top of the tuner cost. I know the APS is a plug and play but my goal is 600-650rwhp after I build the motor.
2. APS TT is not out for the G. APS says it will be realeased in May but you know how that is.
As far as the JWT TT, it is rated for up to 530hp, so it is out of the question.
