TT the Z - Advice on internal components!
Hi
I was thinking it was about time to TT the Z...but with all the talk of bashing rods and so on I figured why not safeguard myself and that is where I need advice.
I would like to run the Greddy tt, but based on facts it seems the APS tt would perform better at the levels I expect. With money as no object, where do I begin? Pulling out the engine, dropping the compression? Increasing the durability of the head/head components? Any recommendations on the materials/brands of parts I should use?
Keep in mind I would like to run between 500-600 horsepower(Running somewhere from 10.5-11.1 qmile), limiting it to that because it would be more than just a Sunday driver...not every day, but more often than that. So, yes, reliability would be nice!
Thanks for any advice.

The APS and GReddy will be fine for 500-600 horsepower, if you go over 650rwhp with the APS expect to need to swap out turbo's and the GReddy's at 700rwhp+.
Gotta set a price limit.
There are SO MANY options you can go with. Engine management and fuel will be something you need to determine how you want that to be handled. I personally like standalones. If you go with APS, everything will be taken care of for you, except internals and such, but some people don't like that and would like certain components.

go through 5-6 pages of old threads and you will have 90% of your questions more than answered...
in summary...the best gameplan...keep your current car running...buy a used shortblock/ forged internals/arp main and head studs/ have the block machined to fit the forged pistons (most of us have gone .020 overbore)...
so, build the block and then take your car to a reputable shop, have them swap the built block in..add the turbo kit of your choice..if $$$ is not a problem- go APS twin turbo...upgrade the fuel system (talk to phunk @ cj motorsports)..
forged internals...talk to gq_626 (arias pistons/ pauter rods)
ummmmmm....get a beefier clutch/lightened flywheel--ask sharif (gq_626)
hmmmmm....oh yeah...must get larger injectors...rc 550's at least...in the next couple of weeks, there will be at least 3 built 350z's with 550cc injectors, we'll know how much power we can get out of those guys
i may be forgetting some little things...but the key gameplan to avoid too much downtime is to buy a second block...then after the swap sell you roriginal block...advertise it on this forum..maybe i'll buy it for my sleeved forged/ overbored/ backup block
TODD
D'oh, can't believe I forgot about this...take a look at the Turbocharger FAQ at the top of the page, very good info up there.
