Na Sucks!
[QUOTE=hypeiv]Though after reading more of your posts and how your saying how horriable the stock Z i realize that you're most than likely the kind of person who is used to driving faster and more expensive cars so to you the Z is a pretty slow car. QUOTE]
exactly!!!
not trying to oofend anyone...the z is awesome in every other demension..just needs more power
i'd have a stock z anyday over a suped up neon!!!

you guys are funny.
i'll challenge any one of you F-I guys to come to a road course. i'll take any of you over a 30 min session in my automatic sedan with radials, and N/A too. (except eagle1, he's cool, hehe). i doubt any of you FI guys run WOT for 25-30 min consecutively for 4-5 sessions a day with no problems. ever heard of tuning a vehicle for overall balance?
hell, it takes a FERRARI ENZO to harness 580whp, I don't think a Z will even handle 500whp on the track. Lets see, any GT-racing Z with over 500hp has a lot of downforce, also something absent from any non-ugly Z or G.
back to balance, how many of you FI guys don't even have significant brake upgrades? lets see, engine rebuild #2 could have equalled a BBK. don't tell me a simple 4/4 piston or brembo 4/2 is sufficient to stop such a fast car. its not. a stock track Z is balanced to stop a 3100 300bhp car. a 3200 500bhp... hmmm... give me some 6/4 piston water-cooled alcons, better reinforce that suspension too. already forged, so what. better have some massively stiff coilovers, large tread, and lots of grip in the rear. how many of you guys are doing that?
and, do you think our trannies (6 mt or 5at), can handle 500bhp plus reliably? lets see, any Z in japan running significant power does not have the stock tranny. feel free to tell me i'm a moron for "studying" what japanese tuning does. TS widebody G35 has a getrag supra TT mated to AWD (dont ask me how), the TS ORC drift 350z (690whp low boost), runs a GT-R transmission, and both the esprit Z33-R (702whp rb28dett Z33), runs a GT-R box.
and clarify to me the point of having 500+whp on the street? so your DOT approved street tires can struggle for traction in 4th gear? LOL. I'll take a lightened Z with 3.9FD and cams anyday. where do you guys use, "500whp"? on the freeway? haha. a nice porky 500whp Z will suck in any canyon or track.
500whp is hard to harness in any street car, much less one with little weight over the rear axle.
nevertheless, its going to be a long waiting game, but the new skyline GT-R engine will expand engine swap possibilities. there should definitely be a GT-S version, RWD in Japan. The FM platform I hear should make swaps a bit easier.

just wanted to vent at such a stupid comment. n/a and F/I have their benefits and downfalls under any situation. but, typically extra power in F/I is used to compensate for the lack of driving skill. my .02

to a large degree, i kinda agree with AznIceRckt's comments.
I know a lot of guys with FI are good drivers, and are putting in the right parts for brakes, suspension, and tires/wheels, but I wouldn't at all be suprised if quite a few if not most FI Z or G drivers got it primarily for street use and being able to 'smoke that Z06 vette' on the highway and at the stoplight even though most Z06 or viper owners don't race on streets for the simple fact that cops everywhere keep their eyes fixated on them enough as is. Or maybe occasional drag racing at the strip
FI can be used at the track and run just fine - lots of cars do. In a hot environment though (like where I live - AZ) you could be asking for trouble if you don't have all the proper cooling stuff installed.
With the money I've spent on NA upgrades, I could have just about had an APS w/forged internals motor - which would be awesome, no doubt and be faster.
But as it is, I'm going the more conservative route. Did all the NA bolt on stuff. Next I'll focus mainly on handling/cooling/safety. After that when I've beat on my engine for awhile and my warrenty is pretty much shot, I'll go all out with a built engine and FI with even bigger brakes than my track brembos. My car should be properly set up to handle that much power for long hot tracking sessions and I'll be a more experienced driver to be able to handle that much power on the track and feel comfortable with it. I figure someone with the bare minimum FI kit who overheats out on the track during the summer isn't going to be going faster than me if their car is in the shop or pulled over in the pit being troubleshot/cooling down. That and since the Z is still pretty new, there's always companies putting out better parts as well as fixes/updates to parts already out. By the time I do FI, there will be a lot more parts, knowledge, and experience - which is what you want for FI.
Accellerating fast is fun though....until you get pulled over and handcuffed like I did a few weeks ago for excessive speeding - possibly facing 30 days in jail along with $500 fine. Makes you think twice about being one of those idiots you see videos of people going 140mph on highways passing traffic moving at 70mph or just speeding in general. Driving on the track is so much better than driving fast on the street it'll make you start thinking the rush you get for going 20-40mph over the speed limit is lame.
IMO

you're tellimng me 500whp isn't tempting...come on now
hmm, i recently had lots of fun on a road course, Barber Track, check it out here,
http://www.barbermotorsports.com/
i went during a porsche/bmw day, and actually did to 4-30 minute sessions, without any problems with my car, and thats with some pretty harsh driving with high rpms, the vortech did great, (my shredded tires can vouch for me) and did pretty damn good i think considering it was my first time, my instructor was very impressed with my car and my driving abilities. i was hanging pretty well with some M3s and porsches, so to say that FI makes up for lack of driving skills it a crop of BS.
once AGAIN, my post WAS NOT to talk down to NA cars, it was said in a state of depression, since i no longer have my vortech.

i mean, don't get me wrong. it would be fun to have a 500+whp car to do nice long burnouts, be a dyno queen, and impress at 100+mph speeds (when traction is available, on the street atleast).. but when i want a car for that, i'll be picking up a mk4 supra or fd3s, then some boltons and i'm right with your built, TT 350z. my g35 is my only car right now, hence i'm going for overall balance. maybe some of you guys are using your 350's as your highway-racing or drag-racing cars and i was misunderstood.
again, its all opinion, but i think the Z is best suited, lightened, N/A, say 2800 pounds, 350whp. now, there is a weapon... except on the freeway, but who cares when a busa will always beat cha?
