Default Non-intercooled Turbo setup

I probebly can't afford a tt kit for the next few years so Im looking for a cheaper alternative. I was wondering if it was possible to have a non-intercooled turbo setup with just the basic components running at low boost. I'm not looking for huge power gains (maybe 30-50rwhp) and have it reliable enough for everyday driving. What do you guys think?

I'd wait until you can afford to do it right.

There is some interesting discussion about replacing the IC with water injection here:

http://www.aquamist.co.uk/phpBB2/vie...83167dbc04a205

but its not free, figure at least $300, so if cost is a big issue it may not be an alternative for you. I will be posting temp readings from water injection on our APS TT 350Z in the near future.

It would work but after 3 wot runs your engine will get heat soaked which will lead to detonation.

if you want 30-50 whp on the cheap, get yourself a bottle of nitrous. its there when you want it and much safer than this setup would be.

Yeah I thought about it and n2o would be the cheapest route for me since I can refill the bottle for free whenever I want at my lab. I help my co-worker, who has an R32, refill his about 4 times a week. It gets tedious and a bottle in the Z wouldn't leave much room in the trunk. I thought about the turbo setup because I have a friend who has a non-intercooled greddy turbo kit in his integra that he's been running for 3k miles and has had no problems. I'm just wondering if such a setup would be practical in the Z, say I keep it at 4 or 5 psi.

Get a Stillen supercharger... modest gains, modest price, relatively safe.

Id save till you can afford proper setup man.. if price is that much of an issue with ya... the price you would pay for like a Greddy tt w/out a FMIC you can get a supercharger and be safe with that..

What type of lab are you referring to? Do you have access to the medical grade with no sufur.......woo hoo!!!! wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow.....every heard that before?

But seriously like others have said, do it right the first time. There are members experiencing engine damage even with complete kits.

Why not just do bolt-ons and an ecu flash? That will give you nice gains, right around 30whp with every mod I have plus headers. MUCH more reliable, and you can do it in steps....
