What is the first thing to go in a forced induction engine? I was guessing it would have been the connecting rods or pistons. How effective would shot peening the stock rods be compared to pauter rods?
Reaper please just spend an hour or two reading a backlog of the threads in this forum. You will get a taste of what is to come based on your decisions of what FI "kit" you are going to purchase.
Thx narkotic but I have already installed an HKS kit and very happy with it but was interested to hear from Zcool on the dynamics of "doing it right", that is why I posed the question to him directly and did not spend several hours pawing through lots of information that would probably not answer this question.

If you are going to incur cost of rebuilding the motor, it would make the most sense to change all the key components at once. Pistons, rods, studs, gaskets, etc. Shot peening provides some benefits, and it is done with the Pauter and most aftermarket rods. But shooting stock rods would be cost prohibitive since you have to pull the motor apart to do this.
