Default do i have the strongest vq35?

well some have seen my posts in the past, and i have still been waiting (even trying to a point) to throw rod out the block, but dam, it still keeps going. running 12psi on an ati with stock internals and no dyno tune. getting 5-6 psi at 3000rpm and setting off the maf limp mode on occasion too.
not too sure what people are doing to blow solids out the sides of the block, but mine is still holding. just have it set rich on boost and well thats about it. got an emanage on its way, but almost afraid to get it tuned so they don't mess up my good luck streak, hahaha.
some will bring into the idea of "washing the cylinders" by running rich as bad. and granted it is, but alot better than using your block as a picture window!! like i said, still running today, check back tomorrow!
maybe i am just not pushing it as hard as others. but even the stock clutch seems to hold ok. granted, it spins the tires in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and well till i take my foot out of it, maybe if it was trying to hook up more i would see more slippage ( tilton semi-street is ready to go in)
just making me curious why mine is holding and others are not!

Vortech running 9.5-10psi at peak, stock internals, 425rwhp, 17,000+ miles

BTW, you may think the stock clutch is holding up ok, but its probably not. I thought the same thing. Then I went to Nissan to have the tranny replaced under warranty and they gave me a new clutch to boot. The difference was night and day. The clutch, like the spark plugs, are parts that gradually degrade over time. You won't notice how much they have worn down until you put a new one in.

What did you dyno with the ATI at 12lbs of boost?

overZealous1 are you still running the DFMU and pump or did you rip it out when you got the injectors?

You did retard your timing right? If so how much? BTW, before you tune it, you should get a baseline of what your at now-hp/tq #'s and a/f #'s Im curious what kind of set-up you have to keep the motor alive at that boost level.

It seems that the ones not taking to high boost well are the TT's probably because where you see 5-6 psi at 3000 RPM a TT will see almost max boost at that time, so like myself I am running 8.5 PSI I see that by 4K.

I dont know how you can run 12lbs on the ATI w/o pulling timming. Please tell me you are pulling timming.

If he is running rich he is ok. Thats the whole point. He is very safe because he is running rich. With that said I am sure I can blow it up for you. What did you dyno?

You guys realize that the SFR/SSR turbo kit pulls no timing whatsoever, and is able to make tons of HP at low boost (6.5-7.0). Theres just no solid answer to "correctly" tune the vq35.

Quoted for laughability.

I think you mean no settings are going to work acrost the board for all FI VQ's.

yes i plan to see where it is at right now hp/tq wise, then tune from there. i am still running the aeromotive fmu set at what ati tells you to set it at. but with the larger injectors it is making a bit rich. no timing has been pulled what so ever but am running the colder plugs.
as far as hp goes right now, not sure. i also have a full solid rollered 383 vette putting out 560hp (@ crank) and my Z would definately give it a run for the money.
i have the greddy emanage on it's way right now to put in the car and get rid of the aeromotive fmu to be able to pull timing and get more precise with the a/f ratio. the aeromotive works good, but i don't feel too safe running fuel pressures that high w/o having all braided fuel lines.
