Default Turbo Timer install question. . . .

I just got the Apex'i timer with A/F reading and the only issue i have is that I'm not sure which 2 wires near the ignition switch i need to hook the IGN1 and IGN2 labeled wires from the timer to. I know there is no harness available for the Z yet but i also know there have been tons of these installed. Any help would be appreciated. I've searched and searched but i cant find the info i need anywhere. Can anyone help? Also pics would be the sh*t. Once i get this info i plan on doing a How-To on this to help people from now on. Thanks

You want pin 3 on the ignition wiring harness. If you look at the connector from the front the pins are laid out like this:

351
426

By the way... I've found that when the engine is running I can't set the alarm from the remote but the doors still lock. If anyone has found a way around this problem please let us know what it is!

It may be possible to cut the RAP signal to the BCM with a relay only when the TT is on. If the BCM doesn't see that the igntion is on your doors should lock from the remote. I've messed around a little with putting the windows down from the remote while the ignition is on by doing this, and it works, so I would imagine the doors would lock too.

He mentioned that the doors lock but the alarm doesn't arm.

Hmmm.... reading was never my strong point!

Its been so long since I've had my car that I thought that the doors WON'T even lock when the ignition is on from the remote.

Even still, I would try to interrupt the RAP signal to the BCM whenever the TT is on but the car isn't on. The BCM houses the alarm and its all integrated in to one unit.

This may sound like a wild idea, but you MAY be able to just interupt the RAP signal that goes to the power window module, that alone may allow the car to arm.

Your final option is to pulse the door lock wire in the drivers door after you TT shutsdown. This will cause the alarm to arm every time.

Also, now that I'm thinking about it...

On the G35if you don't open the door after the car is shut off the RAP system NEVER shuts off. Maybe you could pulse the door pin after the TT shutsdown. In my G, if I don't pulse the door pin the auto head lights will never turn off!

well i figured it out on my own last night by using a volt meter. the thick white/blue stripe wire is 12v constant that you hook your 12v power wire from the timer to. the IGN1 wire (green on my APEX) hooks to the thin white/black stripe. The IGN2 wire (blue on my APEX) went to the thin black/red stripe. maybe this info will be useful to people in the future. thanks

Kevin, thanks for the info. I'll need to look at this stuff in the service manual to try to fully understand what's happening. Could you explain what the RAP signal is? Hopefully this function isn't completely internal to the BCM because, as you say, it would probably require a pulse of the door lock when the tt shuts off which isn't ideal. I'll keep looking.

The RAP is the retained accessory power. I will have to look up the signal to see where it is derived from, but now that I think of it I believe the BCM creates the RAP signal. Without actually messing with the car I would guess that you need a door pin pulse once the TT shuts off. This would be super easy. Hopefully you won't need to pulse the door lock, that would be much more difficult.
