I will let you know how it goes, John. I have the wiring all in, but I have the emanage bypassed right now. I still need the car for work. I will hit it hard tomorrow.
bump for more info.
I am thinking about getting the j&s safeguard for extra safety with my built long block.
Badmonkey,
Were you able to get the emanage and safeguard to work together?

I have yet to get the emanage and safeguard to work together. The emanage does everything except timing, however. I have the J&S working fine. I installed the emanage after the ecu, thinking the signal would get manipulated and then sent to the J&S. I don't know if the signal is wrong for the J&S or if there is something wrong with the emanage. I don't get any codes when I hook up the ignition harness, but I also do not get any spark to my coils, either. My next step is to disconnect the J&S and hook up the emanage to ensure it works by itself. I have been using my time building my fuel system and the timing has been on a back burner, since the J&S is working fine. Stay tuned.
I may get a hold of John and see if we can figure this out together. He has always been very helpful.

No one answered the question about wiring the ignition in the same order as the firing order?
I am having a problem with my emanage that I just installed. I have a zero'ed out map, and when I put any load on the motor I can feel it missing. It seems as though there isn't enough spark energy or something. I have the diodes installed, but I am sure that I don't have the wiring in the same order as the firing order.
Also, I am not sure that I have the most current firmware, which is what I am going to check now...

I updated the firmware and everything started working correctly again.
I guess I won't have to rewire everything (thank god!) Now I have a service engine soon light, which I assume is from the misfiring. Does anyone know how to reset the ECU?

Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.
Operations Procedures
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.
Mr. Badmonkey:
If you have the time, I'd like to bring my scope over and look at the signals coming from the emanage.
If you haven't done it already, try connecting it without diodes on the output of the emanage, as they will cut the signal down by nearly a volt.
The input trigger threshold of the J&S is about 3.5v. The unit has 350 ohm pull down resistors on the input channels.
All it may take is moving jumpers inside the emanage.

I am still experiencing the misfiring that I thought was eliminated this morning. At around 2500-3000 rpm at high load the car studders slightly. It doesn't make any noise, it's just not sparking, or doesn't have enough spark..?? The emanage maps are zero'd out, and I have the diodes installed. I am about ready to remove the diodes to see if that fixes the problem.
I have removed the emanage for now, and the problem is gone...

cjb80: i am almost positive your problem is the E-Manage is getting a wack tach signal... I have seen this a few times. I am not sure exactly what the problem was, but after rewiring it was gone... one time I had the tach adapter on the output side of the harness and changed it to the input side, that was all i changed, and the problem was gone.
Watching the RPMs on the E01 wouldnt really show it, where I could REALLY see it was in MAP TRACE on the laptop, the yellow highlight was skipping all over the friggin place.
What happens when your getting this is the E-Manage is skipping around to random rpm/load sites as its getting a mixed signal. Not sure what it is with this car and getting a clean signal in the E-Manage, but it seems pretty picky. This interference I have seen would easily cause engine failure if not cured before beating on the car.
But then again... if all your maps are completely zerod out still... I dont see why it would matter what RPM the E-Manage thought your at, even if it was randomly skipping around... so then again maybe this isnt your problem.

Anyone have a photo of the inside? Oh well, I'll prolly get to take one apart on Sunday

If you want the instructions for the emanage install I can email them to you, let me know gusm@sfzcc.com
nobody really ever clarified the correct way to wire the ignition harness. is white in and black out or other way around. i had 2 diagrams to follow doing my install and they both contradicted each other. hoping very strongly that the white is input, lol.

John from J&S and I did some testing this past Sunday. We determined with an O-scope that the correct inputs were indeed the white wires. There will be an adapter made up so the eManage will work with the J&S Safeguard. I will be installing the prototype this weekend. More to follow...
Badmonkey,
When the J&S and the Emanage are working together will you still control timing with the emanage and have the J&S as safety or will the J&S control the timing and the Emange the injectors only?
