Issues with APS TT???
Now that the first kits have been out for a while, what are people's experiences.
Is the heat management adequate with that huge IC blocking the radiator? Do you need a larger radiator or additional external oil cooler?
What about the engine management? Any flaws or bugs discovered? I heard a rumor that the engines were detonating at high rpms under hard throttle? Any truth to this?
Just trying to finally sort things out before I plunk down $20k+ on a fully built new motor and APS TT system. I was 99% there, but the recent info I came across on the detonation issue is giving me cold feet again.
Anyone care to comment? APS?

You should talk to Jeff. He has had his APS TT kit for a bit now. I think his SN is Jeff on this board and on g350z.com (where all us local MA and CT types are).
I have not heard any of thr detonation talk but I would consider doing the radiator during your install because its a ***** to get in there afterwards.

Heat management seems to be OK from what I have read, except maybe under sustained racing conditions. The APS TT Kit includes an oversized oil pan with exterior cooling veins, which seems to do the trick. Their turbos are water-cooled, too, which adds further protection. It probably would not hurt to add an oversized radiator: Some would call it insurance, some would call it overkill.
I have not seen any reports of engine management problems with APS, as their engine management solution cannot be user-tuned. It comes tuned from the factory, so to speak, and can only be adjusted by an authorized dealer. Scattered timing has caused engine failure on other kits, but not with APS'. APS includes a shielded CAS wire that prevents this phenomenon.
I don't think you can go wrong with the APS TT Kit.

I am 99% sure that if an APS kit blew it would be "front page" news the moment it happened AND COULD BE CONFIRMED. Since there is not that many of the kits out there yet I don't see how a failure would be NOT be known for long. It sometimes feels like people are waiting on this sort of news.

you guys keep saying that there aren't that many out there..you'd be surprised how many people don't come on this board that have the kit installed. The shop that is doing my install has about 20 customers with them installed and no issues to date.

Greddy definatly blew motors before their 100 kit production run was over. The kit is very flexable, but... a little too flexable and tuned/installed w/ the wrong hands equals a ticking time bomb. APS just covered all their bases.

It's too early to tell for me since I've only had mine for a week but I haven't had any problems. XXTuning in E. Hartford did Jeff's and my install and they did a phenomenal job.
Jeff is still using his stock radiator while I opted to go with the larger Koyo since it was much easier to install while everything was apart in the engine compartment. We both are running on stock internals. Jeff takes his car auto-crossing and, knock on wood, hasn't had any problems with his system to this point.
I guess only time will tell but I feel pretty confident with the APS system.

Wow... this could get hilarious... I also have my doubts that its true... being that the APS install is pretty much idiot-proof, and I have my own personal beliefs that 450-475rwhp is completely reliable on this engine if the install and tune is correctly done...
but if it were true and this guy actually posted proof... I can only analogize that as taking a flame thrower to peter's nuts! The swingers will drop like flies and no longer will their knees be dragging on the road with every step he takes.
Eh... i dont believe it either tho.

You have admit, Peter has to be the best salesman/marketing guy in the world. Could sell ice to Eskimos.
God help us all if he ever goes into politics. He'll rule the world...
Yes... I give him credit as a good salesman... but I still have yet to see him work in an environment where he actually has some competition! I once knew a guy that sold an igloo in arizona.
Did he also sell them a bridge?
Peter's reputation is world reknown. I first heard stories 3 years ago. Have yet to meet him face to face. Will have to stop by APS when I'm in Melbourne next time.

sure you did...that would be top news on "days of out lives" here on the forum...
let's see some pics/details/proof
i'm not saying it couldn't happen, it just seems that anyone on this forum that reads the FI section knows that the topic of an aps tt motor popping is hotter than two rats f$%king in a wool sock
