Default Pix of My Vortech & Minetix Manifold Install

I finally got my Vortech SC and Kinetix Manifold install finished. I thought I would take some pix and share them with everyone else on here. I will post dyno charts as soon as I get them from the dyno shop. IIRC, the car ONLY put down 343 RWHP at 6.1 psi max with test pipes, headers, the manifold and dual exhaust. ALso, I am a 5AT. I am not sure why my numbers are way lower than others running basically the same setup but I am working on finding out the reasons. Enjoy. For further details on what I have done to the car, check out my Car Domain page in my sig.

Nice! Looks like the cogged belt on the back of the jackshaft it on backwards. Or does it have cogs on both sides of the belt?

Thanks Rob. Not sure exactly what you are talking about. I dont know what is what on this system. I just know it goes!! If something is on backwards, could it be causing my LOW numbers? Please clarify what cog and jackshaft you are referring to! Thanks.

Yes, if it on backwards you will get low numbers probably little boost. The cogs that I am talking about are on the small belt that is in the back of the SC mounting plate. The cogs on the belt fit into the grooves on the pulley. See the attached pic.

Yours looks like the cogs are on the outside of the belt in pic #4.

Well for one throw away that gator belt, its junk. That could be some of the problem. Everything else looks fine.

If it (cog belt) came with the unit it should be Gates.. It looks like an optical dilusion but it appears that the cog belt teeth engage the pulley..

I am working on that. I am strapped due to the install of this thing. It has cost me about $500 more than planned.

I did notice that but after looking at the belt, it is installed correctly. The Gatorback belt is the one that drives everything. Its the other belt. I plan on replacing it once I get my Hawk brake pads and tires installed.

Zach... don't listen to the naysayers. There is only one problem with the Gatorback belt and that is you have to tighten it one or two more times than the other belts. I made 425rwhp with the Gatorback belt. All of them are about the same as far as performance. Gatorback just seems to require more time to settle in. I've had 3 and have always had to tighten them 3 or 4 times (including initial install). I'm running a Dayco Polycog now and there is ZERO difference in performance. The Dayco is a little thicker, produces more belt dust, and so far has only required re-tightening once.

As for you power issues...

A) check the primary belt and re-tighten. Upon initial install it **will** settle in and become loose no matter what brand you use. This creates slippage and will definitely kill your HP.
B) did you adjust the bypass valve? Do a search for Vortech Bypass... somewhere on the forum there is a good description of how much it should be tightened, but I don't remember off the top of my head. Adjusting the bypass will allow you retain boost longer.
C) double check all the pipe couplings... you could be losing boost pressure because one is not aligned properly or is not tightly sealed.

Those are the easy fixes... make adjustments as necessary and re-dyno. With your setup, you should easily get 8lbs or more of boost and be able to tune to 370-380rwhp easy.

Nice! That Minetix manifold looks almost exactly like the new Kinetix one!

Just kidding - lookin good! I wish I had the cash and the means to get one, but I'd rather see some results on a turbo'd car first.

That gator belt SUCKS. It will keep stretching until you can not tighten your belt adjuster any more. If you get the 93.5" napa/gates belt you will put it on and forget about it.

Your cog belt is on fine, it looks like it's inverted but those marks are just the label warn off from it.

I believe the dates for the GB have come and gone. Talked to Robert earlier in the week and was told he will be adding the Kinetix SSV IM to their site a few days back. i know they are very busy meeting GB demands. Look for it at: www.kinetixracing.com
