Default Superchargers and altitude

I am currently having the Stillen stage 2 kit installed, and the installers called me and said that I need to order the smaller pulley because we are only getting 4lbs. of boost ( they said the tech at Stillen also recomended this ). So right now I am running 4lbs. with a 24 hp increase at the wheels. If I go to the smaller pulley will these numbers increase dramatically ( my installer is telling that we should see around an 90 - 100 hp increase with the smaller pulley. Thanks Ronnie

This is they advertise for STAGE 2 - Flywheel - 384 hp / Wheel - 313 hp

You should not have to change anything. Man that is a lot $$$ money for 24whp. Something is wrong with the install or the kit. I would call stillen and complain. If they adverstise 313whp they you should come close to that. I don't see them adverstising that you have to change the pulley. Good Luck!

Your installer is right about this. On clubgp all the guys from Colorado had to run a smaller pulley with higher boost. Those that didn't were running about .8 seconds slower on a quarter mile. Go to a Lighting or Cobra forum and look for guys from Colorado and they will tell you the same. Just some of the perks of living there.

I do tons of Lightnigns and Cobras, and the positive displacement blower on the two is very efficient and doesn't loose boost

Yep weather is awesome, but the Z drives like my Mazda Protege did at altitude, power is just not there.

This is a very common problem at altitude. I'm sure if you call STILLEN, they will help you with this.

This all goes back to the discussion that was had some time ago on FI and altitude. You will need a smaller pulley, and the one that stillen manufactures may not be small enough for you to get to 6 pounds.

I do know the guys at boulder Z have custom made their own pulleys due to the higher altitude.

I spoke with Adam at Stillen today he said that he spoke with one of the engineers of the supercharger and they are supposed to send me a new pulley that should get a gain of at least another 2 lbs.. He said that this pulley is smaller than the stage 3 pulley. The pulley should be here tomorrow, I will post the results.

00Z - do you have the smaller pully in yet? if so, what #'s are you pulling now?

i also live in denver and recently installed a stage 2. like you, i was a little disappointed in the "post" install #'s compared to stock, although i did gain 60 HP and 47 TQ after the install. the guys at bouldernissan motorsports told me that the altitude takes about 1 lb of boost off the rated #'s. i'm interested in going with a stage 3 pulley, but am interested in getting some feedback from people who have already gone from stage 2 to 3.
