Even with a VB upgrade, your engine may still "bounce" off of the rev-limiter when in auto mode. You may have to shift gears in manual mode to avoid that, especially during the 1st gear to 2nd gear shift.

However, I have read where the valve body upgrade increases the amount of torque your transmission can safely handle. The VB upgrade speeds up the shifts, which reduces wear and tear on the transmission. You are not required to install a VB upgrade with FI, but it is a very good idea. Don't forget to also install a transmission cooler when you do the VB upgrade. This will keep your transmission fluid cooler, which will also help your transmission stay healthy under boost.

Good luck.
