Default Vortech Pressure loss?

Is there a good way to check if there are any leeks through out the Vortech system, that would cause any type of boost pressure loss?
Like compressed air and listen?
Wouldn't know how to do this.

I checked for leaks in the pipes , intercooler , plenum , motor, and exhaust . Not the blower . The only thing I think can go wrong , is the seals to go bad . And then you would have oil in the pipe and intercooler . You can undo the pipe right before the BOV . If you see or feel oil in there , your seals in the blower are more than likely bad . I dont know if that causes a psi drop though .

How much psi are you seeing? I am currently ONLY seeing about 5.0-5.5 psi.

I finally ran at the dragstrip Friday night and ran a 13.4xx at 104.xx with a 60' of 2.055. Needless to say, I am not at all impressed by this. When I find the rest of my boost, I should have no problem getting in the 12s I dont think!

Bill, an off the wall question for you since you are fairly experienced with the Vortech setup. Since I am ONLY getting about 5.3 psi on the stock pulley, would it hurt to go down several pulley size like to maybe the one that equates to about 10 psi or 11 psi, if there is a such pulley. I guess Im thinking that if I am losing about 3 psi on the 8# pulley, then maybe I will be able to run about 7 psi on a 10# pulley. Oh yeah, I realize that Vortech does not call their pullies by their respective psi. I think my question is kinda funny as it sounds like something someone who drives a riced out Civic would ask! Hell, I have even thought about sending it in to get it upgraded to the T-trim and running a smaller pulley on it then. There is also no way in hell that I would try to run more than 9 psi on the stock internals before anyone asks or comments!

Zach
You can get the 3.12 or 2.87 pulley straight from Vortech . $90 I think . With the 3.12 pulley I had 7.2psi I think . When I put the Crawford cats back on , it went up to 9psi .

By the way . with the stock pulley on , in the spring..cool weather . I could only get 13.2 @ 105 with a 2.0 60ft. So your right in line with the rest of us that cant launch....lol

My pulley is a 3.12 @ 7100 rpms on dyno psi was about 9.
I don't think I have seen that again, I'm around 7.
Dyno altitude is about 3500' lower than where i live sure this has something to do with lower psi, but I was thinking that maby I'm loosing some psi through a bad pipe cuppling or some other point?

Booger, I have heard from so many people that running a 3.12 pulley is not a good thing to do but I have it in my car right now and I am having the car dyno tuned on a load based dyno on Wednesday, my question is, should I be ok after they tune the car for a safe daily driver who wants to occasionaly race.

You'll be ok . Just tell the tuner to keep it at a safe level

The upgrade was $1000.00 . Its the exact same size . But has a bigger intake . I think they take the same gear section and put a different blower unit on it . I think I was down for a total of three weeks

Vortech reps tell you one thing and you find out later what it really is . Some of the phone reps arent there to help...only to sell . Like I said ...the only thing that was kept from my original blower was the gear section . The blower it self is new . Same size but the intake is bigger so you cant use that air filter that comes with the kit .

Zach, have you checked all the sleeves? I also replaced all the clamps with "T" bolt clamps. Also, had a bad BOV.

I rememeber from a previous post you mentioned $150 for the upgrade but that sounded to good to be true so I asked again to make sure.
I just want to build boost quicker so I am contemplating going to a T trim and also welding on an external wastegate to control the boost not going above 9-9.5psi.
This sound good to you? I still would like someone to look into a toothed belt even though there is no room for it to happen

When you say sleevse, what are you talking about? I have had 2 diffreent shops look at this system and neither can figure it out. Z1 Motorsports said that the BOV was working as it is suppose to do.

The system has been pressurized before and after the blower itself. I dont know to what psi though but I would assume it would be more than what the blower itself is capable of making.
