Default When Is It Time 4 New Plugs...Vortech

I put on the Vortech last Aug/Sept and was wondering when will it be time to change out my one step colder plugs. Would think they would last more than a year.

I think Vortech says 1 year or 10,000 miles...

Jason, bring it over to the house and we will look at the plugs. My concern was that you never had a proper tune when SC was installed. Now Ryan has done his "thing". Not sure of the gap that was put on the plugs when SC was installed. Now a lot of dyno pulls ( 80+ ) plus the IM. You have been "lean", then "rich" and now thanks to Ryan the A/F looks good. Won't hurt to look.

About 10,000 miles sounds right for a properly tuned F/I car. Becuase these engines run richer than stock, and the high heat and cylinder pressures, the plugs arent going to last as long. I would check them every 5000miles, and change them when they look fouled.

FYI: We always carry these plugs in stock....for $65 shipped for the set.

Sharif, you need to start carrying the copper 1-step colder NGKs (about 1/2 the price of iridiums). Honestly, no difference between those and the Iridiums when I switched them back on my car. And since you're changing plugs roughly every 10K miles on an FI car, the longevity issue is not a factor

McDuck thanks for the feedback. Some people prefer the strength and heat resistance of the Iridiums. I am just using 10,000 miles as a guidline. When we are talking about a few bucks price difference between plugs, most of my customers prefer the highest quality plug, and will not mind paying slightly more for it. Playing with F/I, as you know, gets expensive, but plugs, IMHO are one of the smallest costs.
