Auto FI checklist
Okay everyone now that the bonuses are starting to come out at work I figure it is time to take the plunge and go the FI route. Keep in Mind this will be a daily driver and I'm trying to keep the total build cost low. I'm driving an 03 Auto Touring if the years makes any difference.
So here is what I have it narrowed down to:
Turbonetics ST (waiting on the Auto version WITH CAT)
or
Stillen Stage 2 SC (Gotta love the 3 year/36,000 mile engine warrenty)
Now I'm thinking I'll try for the Turbonetics but knowing how life works the Stillen unit might be the better choice.
But if I do go with FI what would be the best bet to ensure engine life?
Tranny cooler?
Valve Body Upgrade?
Oil Catch Can?
Oil Cooler?
Also question on the turbonetics ST:
Would a turbo timer be a good investment?

I would definitly do a tranny cooler since tour going to be putting much more stress on it, and ive heard the valve body upgrades can also be of good use when going FI. 2 of my friends have teh stillen unit on there 350z's and they love them. Absolutly no problems and just lots of fun. Although the Turbonetics kit has proved so far to be reliable the stillen is the way to go if you want worry free fun IMO.

You should have your ECU flashed to raise rev limiter...so it will shift before hitting the rev limiter . Valve body , trq. converter , and of course tranny cooler ..IF..your motor runs hot . I would do the Turbonetic ST way before I would do Stillen . More power for less money
I was thinking the less money would be good.
Who does the Trq converter upgrade? Level 10? I'm looking to make sure the engine + Tranny don't go BOOM. I was under the impression part of the turbonetics kit was an ECU reflash from Technosquare.
I like the Stillen unit but I have to admit it seems like a ton of money for less gains Plus you then have to facor in the cost of the new hood.

Yeah i do agree you pay more for the stillen but maybe theres a reason (No blown motors). Granted its no putting out nearly as much horsepower as some of the twin and single turbo kits it just seems like the kit that is designed for someone new to FI and wants no problems. I agree having to buy the new hood kind of broke the deal for me though. You might want to look in to the APS single turbo too. I think the location of the turbo just kicks a**.
Good luck

I thought the stock rev limit was 6800rpm ? For sure raise it to 7100 or 7200rpm . There are several company's that do Trq. converters . Edgeracingconverters.com did mine . Level 10 has had some unhappy customers lately . Do a search on them
