Smile 550+ WHP TT and Engine build up spec'ed!

First, I would like to say that this project was originally just an APS TT install but was initially cancelled due to some unforseen problems in my personal life ! But as luck would have it those issues are now resolved and I can continue with this project.

I would like to thank everyone that has contributed to this forum. You have saved me a lot of time and money!

My TT kit install and engine build-up is in progress and being done by GT Motorsports in Rancho Cucamonga. If I am missing something please let me know. I don't want to cut corners.

Why not go with the ATS clutch while you're at it? Everything else looks great btw

No, APS does not have an upgraded wastegate actuator. At least that I know of. My wastegates were sent to another company for the upgrade.

Thanks

With the valve train and crank upgrade I was thinking about 7200-7400 rpms.

Pretty siimilar LB build to my G , except my ARIAS CR i@ 9:1, Crower Rods and JWT S1 cams.

I recommend you get the hot parts (exhaust manis, impeller housings and DPs ceramic coated. I would also recommend the KJR pulley rather than the UR. The UR underdrives your water pump, which is less than ideal given the target output and Cali climate. Also an oil cooler is good to have, more merit than the radiator IMO. BTW the OEM head gaskets are more than adequate and proven for these power levels. You are prolley reffering to Cometics which have less of a good track record on the VQ35.

Oh yes , I forgot, if you really are targeting 550rwhp, the JWT clutch is on the hairy edge of being adequate. I am using an ATS twin carbon.

Interesting find on the Cometics head gaskets. I will have to look into this.

As far as the Unorthodox Pulleys, my understanding is that the Crank pulley is the only one being underdriven. The WP and ALT are of the same diameter but made of aluminum. Can anyone verify this?

With UR pulleys , the crank pulley is the only reduced circumference element.
All other pullleys (some can be replaced with lighter elements Alternator and an Idler Pulley) remain at OEM circumference. Note the lightened pulley that UR "calls" a Water pump pully actually is only an idler pully. The WP is driven from the timing chain and is thus uneffected by any underdrive from the crank pulley. So please disregard my earlier recommendation. I had a brain lapse. You can use the UR pulley(s) without any detriment to the water pump volume. The KJR piece is very high quality as well, it just does not underive the accessories.

I think its a kick *** set-up. Sam at GT Motorsports did my Z and with only cam shaft (Nismo R-Tuned), APS TT, HKS Hi-Output exhaust, HKS F-Con with knock amp, running at 6psi I got 443.9whp and 406torque. I think you will be way over 550whp and drivable, and Sam is an excellent tuner. BTW, I saw your Z with the engine dissambled last weekend when I drop my car off to get a Exedy Carbon clutch put in. I told Sam to let me know when the BEAST is going to be done.

Congrats!!!

WHOA! man how did they manage to make that much power at 6psi on your car?! that is jus awesome. i'm guessing its the tuning from the hks f-con and your still on stock internals?...anywho suppose you get a 10lbs actuator, does that mean your low boost setting can not be any lower than 10 psi's right?...and does it have a max of how far you can raise the boost?
