Default Another turbonetics post

I had to tell someone; I finally ordered my Turbonetics kit. I'm going to go crazy sitting around until it comes, I was told that it should be here in about 3 weeks. So in my wait time I figured I'd try to figure out what kind of problems I might run into during the install; maybe I can be a little prepared for them. Most of what I've seen seems to be mostly air and fuel problems that needs adjusting. What kind of issues have some of you guys ran into during the install? Anything might help; what was really tight fits, things that didn't want to fit right, issues with the instructions, something that made a step easier, or anything else.

Thanks

I didn't do my install, but from what I understand, there is nothing terribly difficult about it. Run a search on the F/I forum for details from some people did self installs for things to look out for. SirJohnnyWispit and a few others have done their own installs.

You will love the kit. My car just pulled a 370 on the dyno and has the all clear to be thrashed. I smoked the daylights out of a 300ZXTT this last weekend with it, and I never passed probably about 90% throttle.

Though the kit is tuned out of the box, you need to get it on a dyno to verify A/F. People have had some pretty different experiences with the tune, but for the most part, it seems to run on the rich side for safety.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Same here, though I spent plenty of time reading the install instructions and the Z service manual because I was going to install myself but to make a huge meet I got a shop to do it so I could have it done in time. And I still didn't make the meet cause the shop installed the vacuum sensing line in the wrong port on the BOV. So get familiar with the instructions not only for the turbo kit, but also the BOV and wastegate instructions so you can keep a close eye.

Also agreeing on the "search", cause there are many threads relating to this.

Good luck installing the kit. I am sure if you have a good buddy that will let you borrow his garage (and make his wife park her brand new 4Runner outside), lend you his tools, and even help w/ the install then things will be a little easier.

lol

Hopefully I have the new toys on the Evo to help keep the cars evenly matched.

Your a funny guy, you know that? Oh man, I can only guess how she feels about putting the 4Runner outside.

I think your evo is going to be able to hold it's own.
